"This is an old house... there's bound to be some bumps in the night."

An intriguing - and very scary looking - new horror film from Samuel Bodin, creator and director of Netflix's Marianne, is heading to theaters next month, and the first trailer and poster are now online.

In Cobweb, a lonely, bullied, 8-year-old boy named Peter (Woody Norman) begins to hear knocks coming from inside the wall of his bedroom. The lad tells his parents, played by Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Party Down) and Antony Starr (The Boys), but they seem even more sinister than the taps keeping him up at night.

Peter's folks try to convince him that it's his "overactive imagination" playing tricks, but it soon becomes clear that they are hiding a dark, seemingly supernatural secret.

Chris Thomas Devlin penned the script, which is loosely inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's The Telltale Heart.

Check out the creepy trailer below, and let us know what you think.

Cobweb

"Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter's fear intensifies, he believes that his parents, Carol & Mark, could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions their trust. And for a child, what could be more frightening than that? "

Cleopatra Coleman (The Last Man on Earth, Rebel Moon) also stars as Peter's concerned teacher, but based on what we see in the teaser, she probably won't make it to the end credits!

Cobweb is set to release in theaters on July 21.

This reminds me of an old Tales from the Crypt episode called The Secret.
Practically the same premise.
Kid gets adopted by two rich folks. They take him to this new mansion where he has toys, a big bedroom, and he gets to eat cake and ice cream whenever he wants.
Come to find out his parents are actually vampires and were fattening him up with sweets to make his blood sweeter for when they finally decide to eat him.
Turns out the kid had his own secret, and was actually a werewolf and kills them.

@MahN166A - "Practically the same premise."
A kid has parents and something is scary. Yep, basically a remake.

Man, when I was a kid, I had sleep paralysis nightmares, and sometimes it would be one of my parents standing in the doorway. Which is to say, [frick], this looks real, real scary.

A demon haunts a weird kid inside of an old, creepy house! There's no shortage of these movies. So, let's add another one.

Looks a bit too formulaic for me. As soon as the teacher pull out the artwork by the kid, it was like I've already seen this movie. Still looks like they have done a good job with the atmosphere of the film and it could be fun. I like both actors playing the parents so I might give it a try.
