Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Alexandre Aja‘s killer 'gator movie, Crawl, which was produced by Sam Raimi.

The premise is simple: Kaya Scodelario (Skins, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan, True Grit) become trapped in a flooded house, and must contend with not only the rising water, but a congregation of hungry alligators that are hunting them.

This doesn't look great, to be honest, but Aja has delivered in the past and the trailer suggests that some solid B-movie thrills might be on offer. Check it out below along with a poster and let us know what you think.

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.

Crawl is set for release on July 12.

Wow, killer alligators!! What a novel concept!!!

I'd like to see a damn animal horror about bears. I know most people see them as funny and cute, but that bear scene in The Revenant is one of the scariest and most unnerving scenes I've ever watched.

That's a reaaaallly flimsy reason for including this movie on COMICBOOKMOVIE.COM

At least if an actor from those movies is in this one I can kind of see it.

@Mrcool210 - That's not why it was included. This site had been covering horror movies for a while now.

I've liked Barry Pepper ever since Saving Private Ryan, but this looks bad.

Took me ten minutes to get through the two minute trailer because it's a Sam Raimi movie and I kept pausing to see if they showed the Classic.

Barry Pepper is such an underused actor, it sucks that Battelfeild Earth torpedoed any chance of him being a leading man...thanks Travolta.

@CurlyBill - I finally watched it a couple weeks ago. Jesus [frick]ing Christ, that’s the worst [frick]ing movie I’ve ever seen.

The whole time I was going, "Is that Deborah Ann Woll? No, of course not. Doesn't look anything like her. Wait, is that Deborah Ann Woll? No... is it?"

Looks fun. Solid cast, I dig the director, and it’s about time we got a killer crocodile movie after so many killer shark movies.

Why aren’t there any killer Hippo horror movies.

Hippos are

-Cannibals

-Extremely territorial

-Large and difficult to kill

-Incredibly deadly

-Can run at very fast speed

-unlike sharks, actually will eat people

-Will not stop chasing you until you are dead

And yet? Nothing. Not a single killer hippo movie. Not even a b-movie on the sci fi channel! Nothing!
