Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Alexandre Aja‘s killer 'gator movie,
Crawl, which was produced by Sam Raimi.
The premise is simple: Kaya Scodelario (
Skins, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and Barry Pepper
(Saving Private Ryan, True Grit) become trapped in a flooded house, and must contend with not only the rising water, but a congregation of hungry alligators that are hunting them.
This doesn't look great, to be honest, but Aja has delivered in the past and the trailer suggests that some solid B-movie thrills might be on offer. Check it out below along with a poster and let us know what you think.
When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.
Crawl is set for release on July 12.
