Ahhh, good ole' Barnabus Collins... My dad loves this show, so I had an injection of it in my younger days. Not really my cup'o'tea, but a fun series.

I had no idea they were making a movie based on the series! It's in good hands with Tim Burton. I just can't see it as a stand alone movie, but something that would have to be done as a franchise. For any who've seen the series, it should be obvious why, as Barnabus' story spans several generations of his family.

They actually did two movies in the '70s, the first one focusing on Barnabas' storyline -- House of Dark Shadows. The second one, 1971's Night of Dark Shadows, focused on Quentin Collins.

Given the fact that as a kid Johnny Depp was obsessed with Barnabas Collins, I think it will be very interesting to see what he does with the role. The big unknown for me is Tim Burton. I hope they don't make it weird, and just play it straight like the show did. People call it campy now, but at the time they took it all very seriously.

Another great article Ed!
I'm around the age(37)to know a bit of Dark Shadows if only to recognize the name of the show, and of Barnabus Collins, but this sounds cool. That being said, not so sure of Burton though, he's always been a bit out there for me.

Reading this, it reminds me on another older show I used to get up at 7am and watch all the time: Hillarious House of Frightenstein, with the ever awesome Vincent Price. That's something I could see Burton having fun with though.

Eviltwin, I'm actually of the age -- 50 -- where I LIVED for Dark Shadows. I was the cliched kid that ran home from school every day to see it. I'll be doing a bunch of interviews at the DS Festival and will be posting them over at Earth's Mightiest in a week or so.

LOL! I thought I was the only kid that ran home from school to watch it! I still have my Barnabas Ring and Josette's Music box. Looking forward to reading those interviews from the DS Fest.
