David Hayter of Watchmen fame will write the screenplay for Deadworld. The Deadworld screenplay will be an adaptation from the Deadworld Comic.

The Deadworld Comic was written and co-created by Gary Reid and it picks up 4 months after a apocalypse happens in which humans are overrun by flesh eating dead people. The Dead have already overtaken the Earth with humans almost wiped out but found here and there. One of the main characters is Protag, the Harley riding King Zombie who holds a grudge against the survivors that made him an outcast.

"It's very much about the design of the Deadworld and creating cool, frightening but not necessarily gory creatures," Hayter states. "I am a huge fan of zombie mythology."

This is the start of a possible franchise lurking in the wings. Production begins next year.

@kidz3r0---What do YOU mean "You People?" lol jk ;)

I like that DEADWORLD has been picked up, but the "frightening but not neccesarily gorey creatures" thing seems let-downish.

I LIKE GOREY ZOMBIES! Like the Slimey Zombie in RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD!

That Slimey F*CKER scared the Crud outta me as a kid! lol :)

its going to be hard to top the uncut versions of Romero's Day and Dawn of the dead. I have yet to see it done.

The opening 10 minutes to day of the dead remake was badass.

Running Zombies. FTW.

i think the reason "people" made him an outcast was probably because him and the rest of the zombies were... EATING EVERYONE!

but shrugs.. could have been a different reason i guess

DeadWorld was a comic in the late 80's early 90's which I think was published out of Detroit Michigan, but I could be wrong. It was pretty cool to. James O'Barr (creator of the Crow)worked on it and a friend of mine Scott Parish did some art work. If you can check it out!

This seems very much like "I Am Legend" (the book) from the other side's point of view, am I right?

Sounds like it will bomb to me.

Oh cool never heard of the comic but I love zombie movies, Romero perfected the genre, no one can surpass the man. If they make as gory as those pictures look then I think I might have to see that in theatres.

Well no shit they were vampires in the book, I'm talking about the monsters killing all the people and then creating their own organized civilization and considering the humans to be the "bad" guy(s).
