In 2006, James Gunn made his directorial debut with the sci-fi black comedy film
Slither, starring Elizabeth Banks. Now the two are reuniting for a currently untitled horror film.
Gunn, who has since gone on to the Marvel Cinematic Universe where he directed the
Guardians of the Galaxy movies, is producing the movie alongside The H Collective, which is fully financing and producing it. Banks, meanwhile, is coming off
Pitch Perfect 3, which she produced and acted in, and recently wrapped
The Happytime Murders with Melissa McCarthy.
“Elizabeth and I have been on the same artistic page since we first met when she auditioned for Slither back in 2005,” Gunn said. “She’s since remained one of my best friends in the world, and I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to work with her again. She’s the perfect partner to Yarvo, the H Collective and myself in creating this very special project.”
The script was written by Brian and Mark Gunn, with the logline being kept a secret for now. Production is expected to start in the spring with David Yarovesky at the helm.
