The sixth instalment in the Final Destination franchise is set to hit theaters this weekend, and the review embargo has now lifted.

Despite being popular with horror fans who looked forward to seeing what kind of twistedly inventive scenarios Death would come up with to dispatch those who managed to cheat the Reaper, the Final Destination movies were never what you'd call critical darlings. Even the 2000 original - which is generally regarded as the best - only has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes.

With this in mind, it's definitely a surprise to see such a positive response to Final Destination Bloodlines. With 59 reviews counted, the movie is currently sitting at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

"Adding some surprising emotional layers onto the ghoulish bones of Final Destination's mythology, Bloodlines ingeniously executes grisly set pieces with precision and turns impending doom into outrageous fun."

Have a read through some of the reviews at the links below, and let us know if you plan on checking out Bloodlines on the big screen.

The newest chapter in New Line Cinema’s bloody successful franchise takes audiences back to the very beginning of Death’s twisted sense of justice—Final Destination Bloodlines. Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.

Final Destination Bloodlines stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, with Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd. The film is directed by Adam Stein & Zach Lipovsky. The screenplay is by Guy Busick & Lori Evans Taylor, and story is by Jon Watts and Guy Busick & Lori Evans Taylor. It is based on characters created by Jeffrey Reddick.

This is like Saw X all over again

I've always enjoyed them for what they are, which, like Saw, is finding new, gory and funny ways of killing off it's cast of characters

I'll check this out
