First Still From TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D Released

We recently saw the poster for the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie (which serves as a direct sequel to the 1974 original film), but we now have the first official still from the horror film featuring Leatherface (played by Dan Yeager). Check it out after the jump.

The film continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars.

Texas Chainsaw 3D (which stars Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde, Sue Rock, Scott Eastwood, Bill Moseley, Gunnar Hansen and Trey Songz) is set to hit theaters January 4th, 2013.

ummmmmm didn't the police arrest "leather face" in the original ? Like the opening scene is the police raid footage ? and the very end of the film is a few years or months before that raid..... Gah w/e all the horror junkies will pay to see this anyway. I really only liked a few horror films mostly the true classics ....The rest i put up with because I had a pretty girl jumping on me at any sign of "terror/suspense"

I'm not a fan of horror movies, but...

That's her in a horror movie. Alright, I'm feeling dirty.

What Redhood said. Also, we can cover movies that aren't 100% CBM related on slower news days like today.

I'll have to wait for a trailer but I might actually check this out. And I have no idea why haha. I haven't liked any of the other ones.

Oh, and Expendables 2/James Bond also have comics. Hunger Games is one of the few movies we cover that doesn't have a comic.

Texas Chainsaw has comics, Taken 2 doesn't have comics. We cover most movies that are based on comics, and then some. The end.

Yeah, that one comment was a typo. My bad.

Jim told me that we can cover some movies that don't have comic books, but they appeal to the general audience for us on the site (like Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Bourne, Avatar, etc). And Twilight has been posted on the site before, just not on main.

@SaintSpidey: I think Jim gave us the OK to cover Brave because it's fantasy-related, and we can cover sci-fi/fantasy films in general. Action movies, we're a little tighter on (although Bourne and Jack Ryan are exceptions).

What they're trying to say Saint is that only they're allowed to post articles about non-CBM related movies.

I agree with Redhood. Saint, if you're still confused about why we don't cover Taken 2, just ask Jim. As the creator of the site, he'll probably give you a clear answer than any of us editors.

Awesome. I am almost as big a horror fan as I am of superheroes. Been waiting for this one to finally show something.

Okay even if there is a Texas Chainsaw comic book in someones attic somewhere...seriously? How ridiculous is this going to get before every movie of all time is on here just because there was a 4 issue mini-series about it 34 years ago? I mean there needs to be a line somewhere or the site needs to re-name itself to "movies.com"
