Following a timely rights dispute with Friday The 13th director Sean Cunningham, Victor Miller, writer of the original film, has secured the rights to create a brand new installment in the classic horror franchise.

With the $77 million opening of the latest Halloween creating conversations throughout Hollywood, it is interesting to see that producers are already reacting to the slasher's massive success. Interestingly, Jason Vorhees' cinematic debut was inspired by Halloween's release 40 years ago.

In addition to writer Victor Miller's involvement in the reboot, LeBron James is also on board. The Lakers forward, who is set to star and produce Space Jam 2 with Ryan Coogler, will be developing the film through SpringHill Entertainment.

Jason's return to the big screen currently has no distributer.

A nightmare on Elm Street deserves a sequel. In addition, Robert Englund can still play the role.

@Repian - He looks surprisingly good for a TV budget here.

@Repian - They should take the plot from Freddy vs. Jason where Freddy is locked away powerless in the dream world due to nobody believing in his existence. And he has become an Urban Legend like bloody mary. And a group of urban explorers discover Nancy Thompson's secret diary in which she writes in details her nightmares of Freddy and what he did and in doing so the group provide Freddy with enough power to wreck havoc.

Jason definitely needs a rebirth. Maybe they should go the Halloween route and ignore every movie after number 7, starting with goes to Manhattan...

Should he be a zombie or just some guy?

@WackyBantha - He needs to be a Zombie. Making him 'some guy' again makes it just another Wrong Turn or Michael Myers type. Jason being a zombie is what made him so unique compared to other slashers of his era and those who came after.

No surprise they are doing this after the success of the latest 80s horror flick remakes...but i must say having The King do it is a bit of a shocker...I guess that LA move was about more than Basketball!!

@four20smoke - I kind of like when an outsider of a genre taps into the Horror genre. As we saw with Danny McBride with Halloween. The outsiders care for these characters.

Finally some movement on this movie! I remember when this was supposed to be a found footage film a bunch of years ago.

@zeon00 - I could do without Pinhead. Jason, Freddy, Michael and Ash though...

At one point they were going to reintroduce Jason as a deadite for Ash to kill. That ship has probably sailed.
