Ever since Toho revealed that they were making another Godzilla film, people wondered how it would compare to Legendary's 2014 Godzilla reboot. After the first trailer and images for the film debuted, many people were shocked by Godzilla's very different appearance. It remains to be seen if the image above is Godzilla's only form in the film, even so, Toho proclaimed that "the time has come to make a film that will not bow down to the Hollywood film."

With Toho's Godzilla: Resurgence set to hit theaters in Japan on July 29, the film's official synopsis has been revealed, via the Gormaru Island Facebook account. You can check that out below.

A cause unknown, an accident has occurred in the tunnels of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, causing an emergency cabinet meeting to convene. Immediately afterwards, a huge creature appears, destroying town after town with its landing reaching the capital. The mysterious giant organism named "Godzilla".

Along with the synopsis above, the site also reveal that the official run time for Godzilla: Resurgence is 118 minutes or 1 Hour and 58 Minutes. That's five minutes shorter than Gareth Edwards' version.

With the newest Godzilla film just around the corner, how do you think it will fare against Legendary's action-packed 2014 blockbuster? Before you leave, check out the behind-the-scenes featurette, then share your thoughts in the comment section below.

My only gripe with the 2014 film was the lack of Godzilla but I loved every part of it. The sequel is going to be awesome with FOUR kaijus fighting

Godzilla Krueger? FreddyZilla? Why all the scarring/red shiz all over him? Hasn't he always been traditionally green? Why not green? So weird. Looks like Power Rangers Lord Zed animality.
