GREMLINS Animated Prequel Series In The Works For New WarnerMedia Streaming Service

Last we heard, there was still a plan in place for a big-screen Gremlins sequel/reboot at Warner Bros., but it looks like we're going to be seeing Gizmo and his slightly less adorable pals in animated form first.

Variety reports that a new animated Gremlins series is in the works for the still untitled WarnerMedia streaming service. The show will be written by Gotham and Once Upon a Time scribe Tze Chun, and is expected to be a "period piece that would follow Mr. Wing, the Chinese grandfather played in the films by Keye Luke, as a young man as he goes on adventures with the friendly Mogwai Gizmo."

The series will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and Amblin Television.

That's about all the info we have on this for the moment, but what do you guys think about the prospect of a Gremlins animated series? Drop us a comment down below, and keep an eye on CBM for updates.

I think this is the first time anyone is hearing about a WB streaming service. Uhhh, why not just combine that with DC Universe?

“That’s two hundred dollars.”
“Sorry. Mogwai...not for sale. With Mogwai comes great responsibility. Cannot sell him...at any price.”

Speaking of Gremlins and Academy Awards...no Dick Miller in memorium yesterday. Or did I miss him?

Off topic, but anyone that was curious about how the new template for the Oscars would effect viewership, we now have an answer. The ratings rose this year...

I wonder if this is in lieu of the "Gremlins 3" they were mulling for years? Hmmm...

I think the logical step to take is to set it during WW2. That's where the story of gremlins began and where the book/screenplay started.

I had completely forgotten Gremlins was directed by Joe Dante, the guy behind Innerspace and Piranha. I also never knew there was a Gremlin 2?
