We recently got a first look at Sense8 actress Jamie Clayton as Pinhead via some official promo stills, and composer Ben Lovett (via Collider) has now given fans a tease of his chilling score for Hulu's upcoming Hellraiser reboot.

We only get a brief tease of the track here, and even though it cuts off before it really kicks-in, it sounds like a suitably foreboding piece of music.

Interestingly, the video also gives us a first look at the new puzzle box (Lament Configuration Box, to give it its proper name) that's used to summon the Cenobites. The design appears to be very similar to the original Hellraiser movie's box, but there are a few subtle differences.

Barker's 1987 adaptation of his own novella introduced one of cinema's most recognizable and enduring movie monsters in Pinhead, the leader of a group of demonic beings known as Cenobites. The movie went on to achieve cult status, spawning multiple inferior sequels, a short-lived TV series, comic books, and more.

Specific details on this new version are still few and far between, but director David Bruckner recently gave us a better idea of what to expect. "It's the tale of a young woman, who's struggling with addiction and compulsive behavior, that comes in contact accidentally with the box and unfortunately begins to dabble with it. And chaos ensues."

Odessa A'Zion (CBS series Fam and Netflix's Grand Army) will star as Riley, and the supporting cast will consist of Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why, Ratched,) Goran Visnjic (The Boys, ER,) Drew Starkey (Outer Banks, Love, Simon,) Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, Into the Dark), Aoife Hinds (Normal People, Anne Boleyn,) and Hiam Abbass (Blade Runner 2049, Succession).

Hellraiser is set to premiere on October 7.

Woah. That was pretty ominous. My wife thought it was my son’s Roblox game and asked what kind of scary shit are they playing???

Interesting! Looks good so far. I think they need to build a better mythology about the cenobites. While I liked the original film, I still do not totally understand what the story is all about.

@Forthas - I will agree the Cenobites weren't very clearly explained, but that was added mystery to the original. They were just disturbing creatures from hell who tortured people.

If I remember correctly they explain more about them in the sequel, and for creatures that mysterious and creepy that's the perfect way to do it. Don't reveal too much about them from the start so as to maintain their mysterious and disturbing nature. Then reveal a little bit at a time over the course of either the story or the films.

Keep them vague like Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. The more you reveal sometimes that lessens the character.

@TyrantBossMedia - There is a speech that Pinhead gives - I believe in the original film - where he states that he is a demon to some and an angel to others....

That has always confused me as to whether they are evil or are only evil if the summoner is evil. But they are later in subsequent sequels decpicted as only evil until Pinhead helps the character Kristy in the third one. The nature of who they are and why they do the things they do should be spelled out. If they are only evil then make that the ongoing premise.

From that screenshot that pinhead makeup looks too clean. The original pinhead lines in his face look like actual sliced flesh.

As for that excerpt it sounds like most of the soundtracks we hear today with very little melody, just a lot of strings, brass and chorals, but nothing memorable.

Compared to the original soundtrack this pales in comparison. Just listen to the opening track alone.

All I really need to know is if Pinhead is getting topless or not.

Not a bad swap. Friday the 13th wouldn’t work tho. Who wants to see an old lady get swapped out for an ex convick?

TheWalkingCuban - 9/4/2022, 7:44 PM
@TheWalkingCuban - have they made Saturday the 14th? Ima little behind. And if it’s a parody, don’t bother, I’m talking 80’s sequel. I mean I don’t know how a head can kill teenagers now but maybe it’ll be with the body’s help.

@TheWalkingCuban - There is a Saturday the 14th movie... it's a parody, and awful.

@TheWalkingCuban - don't bother

Oh but I will. It's about a family moving into a house with a cursed book that makes monsters that Dracula and Helsing are trying to get. It's pretty shit and I try to watch it after every Friday the 13th marathon.

@TheWalkingCuban - I still think Friday the 13th can work as a series. People don't believe me when I mention exactly how it can work.

@SonOfAGif - I hear a new movies coming out. Go ahead, tell me about the show, matter fact down. Greenlight. Did I mention I work for Netflix.

Seriously go ahead what would a Friday the 13th so look like

@TheWalkingCuban - The way I had it in my head was it was a sequel to Jason Lives but with a big time jump of 30 years. Jason is still chained underwater and has been dormant ever since. Camp Crystal Lake has flourished into an upscale resort now that entertains people during all seasons. To celebrate it's 20th anniversary for the resort, Crystal Lake opens it's Summer Camp program. A group of ignorant teens staying at the resort talk about the Urban Legend known as the Slasher of Camp Blood. They steal a boat and row it across to the woods to find the old now abandoned Camp Crystal Lake completely taken over by vegetation. One teen finds the tombstone of Pamela Vorhees and digs it up. The moment her skull gets removed, Jason's eyes open up. "cut to black".
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 9/4/2022, 9:42 PM
@TheWalkingCuban - It would feature two villains. One being Jason and the other being the Resort President doing everything in her power to cover up what's happening. It would be a Horror twist on how far corporations will go to avoid consequences. And each episode will have Jason slaughtering anyone in his path to obtaining his mother's skull.

@SonOfAGif - I used to like the Friday the 13th tv series. Actually, I probably still do? Haven't seen it in forever. Aside from that, it had less than zero to do with the Vorhees and could have been called pretty much anything else. Nightmare on Elm Street had a short tv series, too, but that one actually did include Freddy. Very Tales from the Crypt.

1980s was a fun time for campy slashers. And Camp slashers.

@SonOfAGif - duuude I liked it all so far but the corrupt lady, now that’s really interesting. Someone who knew but still built there

I love it
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 9/5/2022, 12:32 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - I always liked the idea of corruption within a business that will do whatever it can to not face protests or prosecution. I can see her forcing her employees to hide the bodies or keep the death of one of their own quiet to not scare away the customers at the resort. While Jason is slaughtering everyone including guests.
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 9/5/2022, 12:38 AM
@SonOfAGif - of course there has to be a scene where he marches is way too whatever skyscraper killing all these guards in his path and just as he’s about to kill the bad guy in front of the main good guy, some huge platoon of swat guys capture him in some kind of net or whatever, and they take him away and the Lady is about to make a fortune or whatever, which we all know how that’s going to end. Or should I say start? Season two!
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 9/5/2022, 1:12 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - I don't think him going to a skyscraper would work. That would make it another lame over the top version of Jason Takes Manhattan. But the Resort President having an office in Crystal Lake would work and Jason eventually killing her in her office. Season 2 could take place in the Winter with Jason killing anyone who tries to enter Crystal Lake Resort to "revive" it and the police send a SWAT team to the now abandoned resort to hunt Jason down. Season 2 could be a cat and mouse game set in the winter with a snow backdrop.
TheWalkingCuban
TheWalkingCuban - 9/5/2022, 2:10 AM
@SonOfAGif - I can agree with that but I wouldn’t call Takes Manhattan lame for this reason, I also wouldn’t call Rocky IV lame. Therefore I am disqualified from judging what is lame. Oh they were definitely over the top in my opinion, excuse the Stallone movie pun, But not lame. Anyway it’s nothing to argue about, I can get behind him straight up killing the lady rather than becoming a temporary experiment particularly that early in the series.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 9/5/2022, 3:34 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - As campy as Jason X and Jason goes to hell were. I kind of want Friday the 13th to go back to being a Horror + Slasher movie. I think the campy comedy aspect just doesn't do it anymore. I think Chucky works better for it. But they could definitely get 3-4 seasons out of Friday the 13th. Season 3 could be about Tommy Jarvis returning to Crystal Lake to try and put down Jason again and then season 4 could be the series finale.

The comics (and I think one of the last movies) introduced factions to Hell, with Leviathan being at odds with Abaddon. Would be neat to lean into that; The S&M army of Leviathan and the bug army of Abaddon going at it. Throw in some Beelzebub or whatever.

For those upset that Pinhead is going to be a female. In the lore the Hell Priest is Pinhead's real name. It's a mantle passed down or obtained by numerous Cenobite lords. Pinhead is a name the fans have the character when he was first shown on screen. So the mantle of Hell Priest can be a male or a female and given the nature of this new film. It seems that all Hell Priests will look like Pinhead.

@SonOfAGif - Do you know why Dr. Channard in the second Hellraiser film was stronger than Pinhead? He had just been turned and seemed to join with Laviathan. Did he replace pinhead as the Hell Priest?

@Forthas - Without me looking it up, I want to see accurate my memory is. One of the sequels had a guy named uncle Frank.

@Forthas - Channard was connected directly to and controlled by Leviathan via the umbilical cord that drilled into his head, and Pinhead was depowered when Elliot Spencer got his memories back.
