The Canal. It's not one of your typical horror films that gets at you with jump scares or the goriest of scenes, this film is intended to make you think about whether or not the lead character is really losing his mind. This film centers around David and his quest to determine whether or not the house he just purchased is actually haunted. Why? His house was the setting for a brutal murder all the way back in 1902. On top of all of this, he suspects that his wife is cheating on him with a man name Alex who has the worst manbun in existence.

His fears are realized once he sees his wife going home with the man after work instead of coming home to THEIR son, who has an unbridled love of dinosaurs. Boy, he really loves him some dinosaurs. After he finds out she's a cheating you-know-what, she ends up disappearing and is found in a canal in which he becomes the prime suspect, because as the detective said in the movie...."it's always the husband".

This poor guy can not catch a break. Not only is his wife being "porked" for a lack of a better term by another guy, he's now become obsessed with the 100 year old murders that plague his house. He starts seeing ghosts by the canal, he starts to see flashbacks of the murders taking place in his bedroom, he starts to freak the nanny the hell out because in David's mind, whomever it was that committed the murders has now come back for him and his son. He wont even let the nanny quit for crying out loud, that's how terrified she is.

So not only can the nanny NOT leave, she was assaulted by something that may or may not of been a ghost. You cant call the Ghostbusters because they're too busy in New York or wherever else fighting off sexist comments on YouTube. David convinces his work partner to develop all of the film he recently recorded and it shows a ghost slowly but surely walking towards the camera. As they watch, the ghost decides she's going to climb through a conviently placed hole in the wall David had made because he thought he was hearing voices coming through them. The ghost grabs her and pulls her through the wall as the cops who have been watching David's house come barging through.

David takes his child and flees towards the canal. David feels as though the tunnel was used by those damn dirty devil worshippers as a means to sacrifice small children and he starts to see visions of himself killing his wife and throwing her into the canal, as well as strangling his co-worker after she saw nothing on the tape he forced her to watch. David perishes but his son does not and now the grandmother has custody of little ol Billy. Towards the end, David talks to Billy through the wall and tells them they can be together forever. Billy goes through with this and jumps out of his grandmother's MOVING VEHICLE. The film ends as the woman who's selling the house sees the child and smiles.

This was a decent movie, it had you thinking throughout the entire film, though i didnt like the ending. I dont know what it is, but i can not stand endings like that, especially when you're invested throughout. Overall, i give this movie a 3 out of 5.
