IFC purchased Victor Garcia's "GALLOWS HILL" which stars reformed vampires Peter Facinelli ("Twilight Saga") and Sophia Myles (the "Underworld" franchise) in Berlin last week. Facinelli's first supernatural thriller since "BREAKING DAWN PART 2." Myles probably best known for her title role in "TRISTAN + ISOLDE," will be starring in the summer blockbuster "TRANSFORMERS 4" opposite Mark Wahlberg. The movie also stars Nathalia Ramos (Nickelodean's House of Anubis) and the latest addition to the Da Vinci's Demons cast Carolina Guerra who we recently saw at the New York Comi Con!
The movie debuted strong at the SITGES Film Festival to over 3,000 horror and fantasy fans. A release date yet to be announced for 2014. People have mentioned similarities to "The Orphanage" and "The Possession."
Story follows an American (Facinelli), widowed from his Colombia-born wife, who flies to Bogota with his new fiancée (Myles) to retrieve his rebellious teenage daughter Jill (Ramos). After a car accident leaves them stranded in a rundown isolated inn, they discover the old innkeeper has locked a young girl in the basement and their decision to set her free has unintended consequences.
The movie is produced by Peter Block, Andrea Chung and David Higgins. The script was written by Rich D'Ovidio ("The Call", "Thir13en Ghosts). The movie was financed by RCN. Spanish director Garcia started his career on the special effects team of "Hellboy" and has segued as a genre director for Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox.
