INSIDIOUS 3 is officially in development

Following a great September opening weekend for INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2 it seems obvious that the next logical step is another sequel.

If the ending of INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2 wasn't clear enough. FilmDistrict, eOne and Sony Pictures announced today that there is now going to be an INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3.

Together the films have grossed over $100 million and have a combined budget of only $6.5 million. It's cheap to make and brings loads of cash, so it's understandable why the filmmakers want this franchise to continue.

Even though James Wan (the Conjuring, Insidious) is clearly not returning for this film with his recent statements saying he's "done with the horror genre" -- Leigh Whannel is signed on to write INSIDIOUS 3, some even pushing for him to direct.

It's not certain where they plan to take this franchise, we can only hope it doesn't end up like Saw -- pumping out sequel after sequel just for the money.

INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2 opened in theatres on Sept 13 2013

James Wan is done with the horror genre? Wow! I haven't seen Insidious 2 yet, but Conjuring was great.

i'm not a fan of Insidious (ghost movies in general) but i sure like Wan two first movies : Saw and Dead Silence.
There was something very unique about the style of those two movies (Death Sentence also comes to my mind)

Once he's done with Fast and Furious he could make a great comicbook movie.

Spawn ? Ghost Rider (The Road to Damnation) ?

I liked the first one and plan on seeing the second soon. As long as Whannell continues to write the sequels this property stands a chance. I never got a chance to see The Conjuring in theaters.
