ShockTillYouDrop.com is reporting that Jill Valentine will be replaced by Ada Wong in director Paul W.S. Anderson's
Resident Evil: Retribution. Wong is the Chinese secret agent who appeared in the video games
Resident Evil 2 and
Resident Evil 4.
When it was recently announced that director Paul W.S. Anderson and actress Milla Jovovich would be returning for a fifth
Resident Evil, there were simultaneous reports that Leon Kennedy and Barry Burton would be characters in the new movie. Those same reports said that Sienna Guillory's character Jill Valentine would be recast. But apparently, Ada Wong will be on it instead of Jill.
It was not revealed who might play her at this point, but fans of the games should be thrilled that Anderson is bringing in another favorite.
For those who dont know Ada, here is a little bit about her, thanks to
Wikipedia:
A woman of Chinese descent, Ada is a cunning and formidable secret agent for the mysterious and powerful group known as "Organization". Ada makes her first appearance in Resident Evil 2, secretly working as a spy for an unnamed company, sent to recover a sample of the deadly G-virus from the Umbrella's lab in Raccoon City. Ada poses as a bystander who is searching for her missing boyfriend, John, when she meets Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie police officer trapped in the city. Her secret agenda is exposed, but she is seriously wounded by either Annette Birkin or the Tyrant T-103 and falls from a massive shaft.
Her next appearance was in Resident Evil 4, where she assists Leon in his mission to rescue the new U.S. President's daughter Ashley Graham, although her true objective is to obtain a sample of the Las Plagas parasites for Albert Wesker.
The fifth installment starts filming in late September for a September 14, 2012 release. Milla Jovovich will return to play Alice in the Screen Gems movie.
