Following last month's speculation of a Five Nights at Freddy's sequel, actor Josh Hutcherson has confirmed that a sequel is actually in the works.

While at the Golden Globes, Hutcherson revealed, "I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible. Obviously, the fans are amazing and die hard. For me to be a part of it was was so cool and phenomenal."

"We hoped it would connect with audiences,” he went on to add. “But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did. I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.

FNaF only cost $20 million to produce, yet it brought in over $290 million globally, including $136.46 million in the United States.

The film went on to become North America's highest-grossing horror film in 2023, greatly exceeding second place Scream VI's $108.1 million.

What's more, the film was released on the Peacock streaming app day-and-date, yet still managed to rake it in at the box office.

Previously, director Emma Tammi stated that she's more than willing to return for a sequel if the first film resonates with audiences.

"We're all, including myself, very excited to keep making movies in this universe if we're lucky enough to do so and this first one does well...I'd love to not shut down anyone's theories. We have some loose ends that I think are going to have to come back in a sequel to be tied up."

The film features Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, Across the River and into the Trees) as Jeremy Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Lail (Once Upon A Time, You, Ordinary Joe) as Vanessa Monroe, Piper Rubio (Disney's Crater) as Abby Schmidt, Matthew Lillard (Scream, She's All That, Scooby-Doo) as Steve Raglan, and Mary Stuart Masterson (Fried Green Tomatoes, Blindspot) as Aunt Jane.

Tammi directed the pic from a script she co-wrote alongside Five Nights at Freddy's video game creator Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback.

Five Nights at Freddy's follows the story of a security guard who works overnight at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a Chuck E. Cheese-style restaurant where the animatronic animals come to life at night and try to kill him.

The film is a darker and more suspenseful take on the game series. It will explore the backstory of the animatronic characters and the mystery surrounding the disappearance of several children.

Five Nights at Freddy's Official Synopsis: The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.

I missed this one.

Is it worth a late night tequila blitz watch?

@DocSpock - I have too, but not for lack of trying.
I went to go see this at a 1pm show on a Tuesday. Fell asleep 10 min.s in.
Twice I've tried to stream it but I, again, fell asleep both times.

This movie is just cursed with me :D

Hopefully better written than the first one. One of the worst movies of the year for me.

First one was....Okay. From what I have read about the game....This probably should have been wayyyy better then it was. I guessing they do a prequel right?

I imagine it'll be a sequel with the Puppet (Mike's Schmidt's deceased brother) as the villain accompanied with flashbacks to the original events of the Pizzeria to further explore Afton's character.

Vanessa will probably be awakened from the coma and it'll end teasing her as the villain for the third film.

Then third film will have Afton as the primary antagonist with Vanessa as a secondary antagonist.

It'll be difficult to do a satisfying sequel because the set-up was written so poorly.
