Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Crimson Peak) has been teasing a first look at his latest feature for a quite a while, and the trailer for Nightmare Alley is now online.
While The Shape of Water director usually likes to delve into the realms of fantasy and horror, this adaptation of the 1946 novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham is actually more of a noir-ish psychological thriller - although this first footage certainly suggests that there could be a supernatural element to the tale (there isn't, but it looks like GDT wants to keep people guessing).
Bradley Cooper (GOTG, A Star Is Born) plays a manipulative conman named Stanton “Stan” Carlisle, who teams up with even more dangerous psychiatrist Dr. Lillith Ritter (Cate Blanchett) to try their hand at the carny game. Their endeavour proves successful and the pair reap the benefits, but can these grifters ever really trust one another?
