PET SEMATARY Sequel Finds Director In SILVER SABLE & CHAOS WALKING Writer Lindsey Beer

Highly in-demand writer Lindsey Beer (Silver Sable, Chaos Walking) has been tapped to make her directorial debut with a follow-up to Paramount's recent adaptation of Stephen King's Pet Sematary.

The recent re-adaptation of Stephen King's Pet Sematary wasn't entirely successful (to put it kindly), but it was a pretty big hit for Paramount Pictures, and a follow-up is now being developed for the studio's Paramount+ streaming service.

Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking, Sieraa Burgess is A Loser, Godzilla vs. Kong) has been tapped to make her directorial debut on the project, which was originally envisioned as a prequel. However, Deadline reports that "the plot’s direction is still being figured out and a prequel is not guaranteed at this time."

The ending of the 2019 movie - which took some significant liberties with King's original tale - did leave things open for the story to continue, but there's no word on whether any of the cast are set to return.

Beer, who also wrote the latest script based off a draft by Jeff Buhler, has become one of the most in-demand female writers in Hollywood, and has several big projects on her schedule, including a live-action Bambi movie, a new M.A.S.K. animated series, and Sony Pictures' stalled Silver Sable film.

What do you guys think? Any interest in a sequel or prequel to 2019's Pet Sematary, or would you rather they let it rest? Drop us a comment down below.

She's in demand? For Silver Sable, a movie that isn't getting made? Godzilla vs Kong had a writer? What a news day!

@PapaSpank54 - GvK was good, surprised someone in hollywood understands the logic of simple/fun rather than 4hr directors cut mess trimmed for theaters.

But still Pet Semetary's remake was terrible....

Say what you will about the first sequel but

Keep that.

@Reeds2Much - agreed, it’s more fun than the first, while the first is scarier. That red head mullet dude there had a habit of being in fun sequels to scary movies. Wish he had more screen time on terminator 2

Nothing will beat Clancys Browns performance from the original sequel.

Wait so her main writing credits are Silver Sable (never got made) and the 2018 iteration of The Magic Order series (which didn't get picked up). She was only in the writer's room of Godzilla vs Kong and did an uncredited rewrite of the flop that was Chaos Walking.

The only film she put out ever was a Netflix film that just scraped by as fresh.
That is some serious failing upwards career.

I didn’t like the remake at all really. It did have some really interesting ideas. I think the best part is the stuff with the daughter after she comes back and the dad is trying to pretend everything is fine. But it was very ill defined what exactly happens when you come back from the dead and I think the original, while being super cheesy and unintentionally funny at times, does a way better job with the story. However, if the sequel is anything like the original Pet Semetary 2, they could be on to something....

Pet Semetary had so much juice...coming right after IT Chapter One.

And then...you saw the film and.... 😢😢😢😢

Really surprised this is getting a sequel.

The original movie was one of my all time favorite horror movies, the remake was so disappointing very weak in comparison to how terrifying the original movie was. Hopefully this one will be much better and hopefully show the Wendigo creature.

The first one was eh. John Lithgow and the little girl were solid, and the actress playing the wife was fantastic. But Jason Clarke was phoning it in like mad, and it's not as scary or sad as it should've been.

I'm not even sure why a Pet Cemetery sequel seems to feel so necessary. Now, or the old one. I'm about 99% sure Stephen King never wrote a sequel book for Pet Cemetery.

The first one made around 113 milion. Sure the budget was low, but really, a sequel ? This would be better as a streaming exclusive for Paramount+

@LameLuka - I wouldn't be surprised if the studios would make relatively more money with an average horror movie than, lets say, an average Marvel movie (considering production and marketing costs, etc)

I don't get why Pet Semetery from 2019 gets shit on so much. I thought it was a decent enough movie. Yeah they changed a bit, but that's not the worse thing to happen. I dunno. It was much more bleak than the dated original.

I went to see this in the cinema, paid for it - was excited for it. It was a huge letdown, dull ass movie, didn't even see the wendigo (which is my favorite creature and a big reason for going into it).
