Following the release of a lackluster prequel to the well received reboot (IE Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) and a controversial sequel to the original (Texas Chainsaw), the franchise may be headed toward redemption...or possibly another dud.

Simply titled Leatherface, a prequel to the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre has been announced by Millennium Films (the studio behind last year's Texas Chainsaw), with Beth Bruckner and Christine Crow overseeing the project. While plot details are being kept a secret, the film is rumoured to focus on Leatherface in his teenage years. The film will be written by Seth M. Sherwood, produced by Carl Mazzocone, and executive produced by Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman. The film has yet to find a director but could start production as early as winter. No release year has been announced.

Are you a fan of 2013's Texas Chainsaw? Are you excited for a prequel to the original classic? Sound off in the usual comments section!

No problem, man. I've never actually watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. Not a massive fan of horrors unless they're genuinely well-made movies that are designed to scare by suspence and tension rather than loud noises and gore.

I don't actually cared what they do with this franchise. I just wanted to do something cause quite frankly I'm bored out of my goddamn mind.

Teenage Leatherface?...Are they gonna make him some emotional kid who got picked on and couldnt get a date and that drove him to becoming a killer?

Loved the originals with Tobe Hooper! Leatherface: TCM3 was ok. The remake with Jessica Biel was alright. Next Gen was awful. Never saw Beginnings or 3D.

What are ur alls opinions of Beginnings and Texas Chainsaw 3D?

I used to love horror movies and even ran a website called Scary Movies back in high school, but anymore they suck. Especially remakes witch the exceptions of Evil Dead and Dawn of the Dead.

Prequels should not be allowed for movies that are over 20 years old.

I love this franchise. I missed the last obe though. I liked the remakes and the remake prequel.

LEATHERFACE had a [frick]ed up life so i hope they really capture that in this movie

Loved the original, enjoyed the remake and it's prequel. And that's it. Second one was goofy, and had a few moments. Third one was just boring. The one with zellweger was pretty atrocious but I could see why some might find it horrible yet entertaining. The 3d one was pretty boring too.

I always watch these hoping to enjoy. I try to be open and receptive. Most are enjoyable for different reasons I guess. Just depends on what you're expecting.

Jesus H Christ. When will studios learn that the more you reveal about a famous movie killer (i.e. Freddy, Jason, etc) the less interesting he becomes? A little info is good in doses, but an entire movie? Watch the original Black Christmas. Billy is scary b/c you know VERY LITTLE info about him--that and his batshit crazy actions are all that you need to know. If this movie does well I'll be utterly shocked.
