READY OR NOT Directors On "Absolute F*cking Banger" Sequel Idea; Confirm Samara Weaving Return

Reports recently did the rounds claiming that a sequel to 2019 horror hit Ready or Not was in the works with Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan, Insidious: The Last Key, Escape Room) in talks to take over as director, and the filmmakers behind the original movie have now made it official.

Though they were hesitant to share too many details, Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin (aka Radio Silence) confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the project is in the very early stages of development.

“It’s getting figured out. That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out,” Gillett tells the site. “What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f*cking banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening.”

“I don’t think we knew after making [Ready or Not] that there would be so much story left to tell,” Gillett continues. “We’re so proud of what that first movie is, we’re so proud of what the sequel is. We’re just really excited, and fingers crossed that it gets made.”

Bettinelli-Olpin then confirmed that Samara Weaving will reprise her role: “And with Searchlight and Samara, they’re not gonna let it down.”

In the first movie, Weaving - who also had a small but memorable role in the last Scream movie - played Grace, who marries into the wealthy Le Domas family. As the story progresses, we learn that her new in-laws have made a deal with the Devil/a demon that involves a (potentially) deadly wedding night tradition.

If the hide-and-seek card is pulled, the game ends with Grace's death.

Grace pulls the card (of course), but winds up outsmarting her pursuers and surviving until sunrise, which means Satan is free to collect the Le Domas family's souls in explosively gory fashion.

We're not sure how Grace is going to find herself back in a similar situation, but there is plenty of potential in further exploring the mythology behind Mr. "Le Bail," so we're looking forward to finding out more.

"Grace couldn't be happier after she marries the man of her dreams at his family's luxurious estate. There's just one catch -- she must now hide from midnight until dawn while her new in-laws hunt her down with guns, crossbows and other weapons. As Grace desperately tries to survive the night, she soon finds a way to turn the tables on her not-so-lovable relatives."

Great movie, doesn't need a sequel, but if Samara's on board, I'll give it a watch

It seems like Samara Weaving should be a bigger star than she is. Of course she will probably get a role in the next Matrix film!

I wonder if her character went to jail for all of those deaths (at least for some amount of time) since her story would be hard to swallow.

I can't believe I missed this. The synopsis at the end (I guess it's spoiled for me now, oh well) sounds fun as heck. Reminds me of "it follows" for some reason, which is also getting a sequel

Quotes like the one from the filmmakers here get me enthusiastic about a project. So i hope this gets made because it sounds like they have a vision 🤞🏾

I'm gonna be dissappointed if the movie isn't called Ready Or Not: Here I Come and features Samara Weaving's character on some vigilante quest going after whoever (Le Bail?) initiated that curse (maybe even venturing into Hell or something).

She really looked like Margot Robbie in the movie. They should make a movie where they're siblings
