RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY - First 9 Minutes Of Horror Reboot Released Online

In an attempt to persuade people to rent the movie, Sony Pictures has released the first 9 minutes of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City online. Will this convince you to see the horror reboot?

Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City opened last month (Dec 3 in the UK) to pretty dismal reviews, and while it didn't fare too badly at the box office all things considered, it certainly didn't succeed in breathing new life into the franchise. Now, presumably in an attempt to entice people to stream the movie, Sony Pictures has released the first 9 minutes online.

The footage begins with a young girl being awakened by a very creepy kid (fans will likely recognize her as Lisa Tevor), who she then follows deeper into the Raccoon City Orphanage. After an encounter with the sinister Dr. Birkin (Neal McDonough) we jump to Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario) for a sequence that should be very familiar to fans of the video games.

We're not sure if this will be enough to convince potential viewers to part with their hand-earned, but check out the clip for yourselves below and let us know what you think.

"Returning to the origins of the massively popular Resident Evil franchise, fan and filmmaker Johannes Roberts brings the games to life for a whole new generation of fans. In Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland…with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and contain the danger, while trying to make it through the night."

Directed by Johannes Roberts, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City is now available to watch on VOD.

You know it's a good movie when they release a full 9 minutes.

Really sad that a RE film actually trying to be accurate to the games was so badly made 😞

I actually like the cast, but I guess Resident Evil was always gonna end up being done dirty. The really should just make it a tv show if they want to adapt the first games.

@bkmeijer - Netflix is doing a live action show on top of this. Ain’t seen the new movie yet but from peoples reactions let’s hope it’s better

The first act of this movie does a great job building tension, the biggest problems come after imo

With the amount of Marvelish IPs capcom has is just stupid how they never made something with Strider Hiryu, Captain Comando or Darkstalkers, hopefully the Megaman movie change something.

Watched it last night with low expectations, its actually not a bad movie at all, much more enjoyable than matrix resurrections
