IGN has debuted the first official promo stills for Sony Pictures, Screen Gems and Constantin Films' upcoming Resident Evil reboot, Welcome to Raccoon City, which has Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night) on board as writer and director.

The images feature some familiar faces from the first three Resident Evil Games: Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario), Leon S. Kennedy (Avan Jogia), Albert Wesker (Tom Hopper), Brad Vickers (Nathan Dales), Jill Valentine (Hannah John-Kamen), and Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell). We also see the monstrous Lisa Trevor (Marina Mazepa), who will reportedly play a pivotal role in the movie.

“I wanted to go back to the horror of it all. I wanted scares and atmosphere rather than full-on action,” Roberts explains. “I think fans of the game felt the same. They wanted to see the iconic characters and locations and feel that the movie was more in line with the Resident Evil game world so that’s really why we chose to go in that direction. We worked hand in hand with Capcom on this movie to the point that we actually got blueprints from them on the designs of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon police station in order to recreate them as perfectly as we could. We even have the exact artwork up on the mansion walls. Capcom saw it for the first time the other day and was so happy and excited.”

Check out the stills at the link below.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City also stars Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin, and Donal Logue (Silent Night, Gotham) as Chief Irons. The movie is set to hit theaters on November 24, 2021, in the US, December 3 in the UK.

The talent behind this leaves much to be desired. Not expecting much from this.

@BlackBeltJones

ViewerAnon said test screenings have been pretty damn good. I’m cautiously hyped.

How is this movie releasing this year already and this is the first thing we've seen of it? Kinda would've expected a first look much earlier.

Anyway, I like that they're leaning into the horror. Just wonder how they're gonna cram the first two games into one movie. I could see them also take some stuff from the third one and make it a two-parter though (with 2 being called Escape from Raccoon City)

@bkmeijer - My thinking too. I would have mashed together RE2 and RE3 myself, considering they chronologically take place at the same time.

But whattaya gonna do?

@generictheeric - I hope they do streamline it a lot. Breaking the whole story down from the first three games (could even include RE0), I think it should be possible to tell it over two movies

Leon and Claire's pic looks like cosplay but the one with Jill and Chris looks dope..the directors interview seems to please me. Hopefully what he had to say matches the film! Excited!

@Gandressmex - Agree. Claire and Leon look like a porn parody but the picture with the STARS members actually seems to capture the atmosphere of the game.
