I return... Or should I say 'AWAKEN' haha... No. I return from my cinematic adventures, what did I see? "UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING" A film that sadly, is a little of what I like and a lot of what I dont. Continue on to find out. Spoilers will be marked **SPOILERS**

This film trilogy has caused people to look differently at the whole "Vampire vs. Werewolf" Story arc in Hollywood. It has also given people a reason to hate films of this kind, for its poor story consistency and over the top action, this new film, however, does something different... No, wait- thats not right, well... actually it is, but not in a good way. The previous films had a story to follow, gave you a reason to care for the events happening, you could follow and enjoy the story without any thought, "AWAKENING" Does not have that. It DOES have a splashed story, but the big problem is that there is no story. There is nothing to follow, you are told at the beginning of the film that the humans are taking out Vampires and Lycans, then you are brought to the future where Seline meets some people, [frick]s some people up, and then **SPOILER** Tries to save her hybrid daughter from captivity after she is stolen from Selines custody **END SPOILER**. There is nothing other than, "Lets do this and then this, OH, then we can do this and then end the movie with out closing anything off" EVERYTHING is left open. Not in the good way either, nothing is resolved, it was very disappointing, along with that is the fact that the movie was very short- an hour long, they could have done so much more.

More complaints, I found myself getting irritated at some scenes in this film, with attempts at emotion, they leave a bad taste in your mouth after seeing it. Even the bad guys were done terribly, I mean, I liked them, but thats only because they were **SPOILERS** really bad ass looking Lycans, over-powered Lycans **END SPOILER**. The bad guys were not established, you were shown that they are bad and thats it, you knew nothing about them, you had no reason to hate or like them, the same goes for the supporting cast. Seline gets a side-kick type of guy, some Vampire who brings her to a colony, the guy is made out to be some super awesome hero, but we see him a few times and then he is gone for the rest of the film.

The action was great, I wont deny that, but at the same time- it wasnt spectacular, over-violent, very bloody and gruesome, not for children or for anyone with a weak stomach. However, this all leads to my big complaint, the main bad guy is this **SPOILERS** Huge Lycan who can regenerate and is invulnerable to silver, and his father who is smaller, but the same **END SPOILERS**. They have a big fight at the end of the film, but its not eventful, punches are traded, there is some bloody violence, VERY gruesome stuff going on, but in the end- it was hardly a final battle.

Finally bringing me to pacing and others things. The pacing was very off, too much fast and not enough slow, but when it was slow, the story wasnt good enough to keep interest, I wasnt sure where I wanted this movie to go. If I should be be grateful for anything, its Kate Beckinsale, nothing better than her in tight spandex, that and there was an "The Avengers" Trailer before the movie, made me giddy like a school girl. This film was a decent action flick, but as anything else it falls short of "Alright" That all being said, I dont know what else to do than give my final ruling.

I give "UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING" A generously gruesome 4/10 Americas.
