The first trailer for the upcoming fifth installment in the Scream franchise (titled simply "Scream") is set to debut online at some point this week, and thanks to EW, we now have a look at some official stills featuring the main characters.

The images spotlight returning stars Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers), David Arquette (Dewey Riley), and Marley Shelton (Judy Hicks), as well as new cast members Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, Jack Quaid, and Melissa Barrera.

Details on the newbies are few and far between, but there's a decent chance most of them will end up as Ghostface fodder, anyway! Speaking of the mysterious masked maniac, we also get another look at this latest incarnation of the knife-wielding killer, who will almost certainly turn out to be "someone you know."

Check out the stills at the link below.

UPDATE: Paramount has announced that the trailer will be with us tomorrow!

Paramount Pictures teamed with Spyglass Media to co-produce and distribute Scream, which has Ready or Not duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett on board to direct. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are co-writing the screenplay. Producers for the film are Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak, with Kevin Williamson executive producing.

Plot details are still under wraps, but a brief synopsis tells us that the story will focus on "a new killer who puts on the Ghostface mask and begins targeting teenagers to resurrect secrets from Woodsboro's corpse-filled past."

Scream slices its way into theaters next January.

@TheMapleSyrup - After Ready or Not, I trust Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett to follow up in his shoes while adding their own style to this.

@demery - So is Ready or Not good? I've seen the trailers and I was unsure about it. However, I keep hearing it's a great horror film.

I don't mind the franchise continuing, because it's a decent horror concept. But from a nostalgia standpoint, it's a bit weird to bring back some of the old cast members. Their characters aren't iconic, so I'm not sure why we need to see their individual stories continue.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - Personally, I think they should focus on a new group of kids and get new main characters. Because I'm not in the realm of wanting to see any of the OG cast die.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - I mean… the franchise is THEIR story. They certainly could have a new Ghostface randomly target new teens and the old gang not get involved. But it’s not really a contrivance to keep them around.

Sidney Prescott lost her virginity to Billy Loomis. Maybe Sidney and Dewey are hiding a big secret. So any young character could be Sidney's son.

Nothing in this movie will be scarier than the shit Courtney Cox did to her face over the past 15 years…

Truly Haunting.

@MaddAddaM - Agree.

She used to be incredibly beautiful during the Friends era.

Not sure why she decided to do this to herself.

Growing up as a 90s kid Scream was the horror films that I most identified with, I remember renting the first one at a video store and being scared anytime pur home phone rang after. Everything I've seen from this has me excited. I do kinda wish they would have changed up Ghostfaces look, keep the mask but give him a sleeker looke like a black coat instead of robes.

Also I really like Neves look in this one, she looks way more like the badass Sidney from Scream 2 and 3. I dont know why they had her looking like a suburban mom in Scream 4.
