Today in a press release issued by Dimension Films, Wes Craven is stated to be directing Scream 4. Along side with him will be original Scream series actors Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courtney Cox Arquette. The film is set to be released on April 15, 2011. Wes Craven had this to say "I'm delighted to accept Bob Weinstein's offer to take the reins on a whole new chapter in Scream history. Working with Courteney, David and Neve was a blast ten years ago and I'm sure it will be again. And I can't wait to find the talent that will bring new blood to the screen as well."

I dunno...this seems like too much. I hope it's good but somehow i don't think it will be even with all the original cast back.

as a person who loves horror movies i am just hoping the whole genre dies out completley. sequels and remakes is all that they have. i dont think there has been a great horror movie sense the 90s

Good find PunisherT!

Make sure to site the source you found the article from and not just write the movie title in there. You can see this one has been fixed.

@MikeSanderson09-Comic Book Movies will always be the primary and driving force here. Many of us also enjoy horror, sci fi and fantasy stuff as well so it does get some representation here, in small doses.

the plot should be about someone rebooting "stab", even though the movie is only 10 years old. that would keep it contemporary and hopefully a bit more satirical in a movie genre thats quickly becoming nothing but remake after remake.

I love the Scream movies. One of the best horror films around. I remember first watching scream and being hella happy when I got both DVD's for Christmas. I remember first watching Scream 3. The good days when movies used to be scary. The new scary movies are interesting but what happened to "Shivering outta my boots." I think this movie should show these new people how to do it. Do it kinda like The Strangers. That movie was going in a good direction. Have Ghost Face like that. More death, more mystery, clues that lead to the supernatural but it ends up not being supernatural, make it that all are a suspect in the beggining, no more Stab movies within the movie, surprise at every corner, ONE killer, unpredictable movie, And finally NO HAPPY ENDINGS!!!

I don't remember Neve, David, or Courtney not being in any of the Screams. As far as I can recall they were in all of them. So...what's the change?

@supahphreak- you're kidding right? OR do you truthfully like saw?

@bleedthefreak- for the most part recent horror movies are a bust. But Let the right one in, drag me to hell, house of the devil are all great horror movies that are very recent.

and was there a comic about this or something because I posted somehting about the upcoming Human Centipede movie (horror movie) and it got removed for it not being a CBM, ..

Its great they have Craven back on as director and bring back the originals, so the movie does look like it might be worth checking out. Still though it should be left alone IMO.

Skyhook, you "just say" that quite a lot. And when you are answered you "just say" it again. Are you expecting a revelation the next time you say it or something? The site is the site. If something has a comic, is based on a comic or is associated with a comic then its covered. Now you don't have to wonder again!

The Scream movies were created as a parody of the horror genre but tried to be scary at the same time. The first one was pretty good when I was a kid, although Mathew Lillard running around crying in a black dress and ghost mask doesn't exactly strike fear in my heart.

I agree with bleedthefreak that the horror movies these days blow, but I must admit that I always had a soft spot for Scream and I'm very interested in what new direction Wes Craven will take the fourth.

@skyhook- if there is some comic that came from this before or AFTER it would make this relevant. I dont care to find out, but if not then i agree but either before or after makes it newsworthy to me.

@supahphreak- saw is a tired franchise. It reminds me of those people in the movies, slurping the air in their sodas, hoping for that one last drop.. even after the ice has melted. Point is, the first was was mildly interesting, but hardly horror.. just grotesque gore with a twist of a plot. I dont mind gore in the slightest, but only when paired with a good story or some relevance to well, anyhting. Those movies are designed for and only for 14 yr old boys
