Following a recent rumor that a new Scream movie was in the works without Radio Silence at the helm, we now have confirmation that Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment are working on a seventh instalment in the iconic horror franchise.
As previously reported, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo known as Radio Silence, will not be back to helm the project after directing the previous two entries. It seems the pair will be stepping away to focus on their untitled Universal Monster movie (which is believed to be a take on Dracula's Daughter), but they will remain on board in a producing capacity.
Instead, Christopher Landon, (the Happy Death Day movies, Freaky) will take charge of Ghostface's return to the big screen
Pre-production won't be able to commence until after the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes come to an end, so don't be surprised if we're waiting another while (potentially a long while) for any official updates on this next Scream movie.
It's a given that the surviving "Core Four" played by Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmine Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding will be back (and no doubt invincible as ever), and we may also see Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers after her near-fatal encounter with the masked killer in Scream VI.
There have been rumors that Neve Campbell may reprise the role of Sydney Prescott after sitting out the last film, but we wouldn't put too much stock in those reports just yet.
