The fifth instalment in the Scream series is set to slice its way into theaters early next year, and Paramount Pictures has now debuted a 30-second TV spot featuring quite a bit of new footage.

In addition to some quick glimpses of returning heroes Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) attempting to evade Ghostface's blade, one shot towards the end reveals that this latest incarnation of the deranged killer will change-up his look a little for this movie.

As Ghostface wields a flamethrower, we see that he's donned a metallic version of his iconic mask. It's only a small change, but the previous outfits have remained pretty much identical since the first film, so it is still a significant development.

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past. Neve Campbell (“Sidney Prescott”), Courteney Cox (“Gale Weathers”) and David Arquette (“Dewey Riley”) return to their iconic roles in Scream alongside Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.

Paramount Pictures teamed with Spyglass Media to co-produce and distribute Scream, which has Ready or Not duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett on board to direct. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are co-wrote the screenplay. Producers for the film are Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak, with Kevin Williamson executive producing.

Scream is set for release next January.
