We recently learned that Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, aka Radio Silence, have signed on to helm a mysterious "monster movie" for Universal Pictures, and the project has now found its lead.
The trades (via FearHQ.com) are reporting that Melissa Barrera (the new Scream movies, In The Heights) is set to re-team with the duo on the untitled film.
Details on the horror project are practically non-existent, but it sounds like it will be based on one of Universal's classic monster properties.
Deadline describes the movie as "a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters."
Dracula has been covered with the likes of Renfield and The Last Voyage of the Demeter, and we know Universal is also developing projects based on the likes of Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon, so we'll be very interested to find out more about this one.
Radio Silence will direct with Chad Villella serving as producer alongside William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt at Project X Entertainment. The script was written by Stephen Shields, with revisions by Guy Busick.
