Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media’s Scream VI has now hit tracking, and the horror movie looks set to break a franchise record at the domestic box office when it arrives in theaters next month.
According to Deadline, the sixth instalment in the iconic slasher film series is expected to take in $37 million over the course of its opening weekend.
For context: Scream (1996) made $6 million, Scream 2 (1997) $32 million, Scream 3 (2000) $34 million, Scream 4 (2011) $18 million, and last year's Scream took in $30 million.
Impressive - but are these estimates taking the recent plot leak into account?
Though the studio acted fast and seemingly managed to remove every trace of the video from the internet, a leaked clip of the latest incarnation of Ghostface unmaking did the round online yesterday afternoon.
We won't be sharing any spoilers here, but such a major plot reveal could potentially impact audience attendance.
The leak is believed to have originated from a foreign market copy of the movie that was sent out to distributors for subtitling and dubbing purposes, but that's yet to be confirmed.
Some seem to be under the impression that the clip may have been deliberately "leaked" by the studio as part of the film's promotion, but given how hard they've been working to erase it from the interwebs, we'd say that's highly unlikely.
Tell us, did you seek out the clip? If so, please don't post spoilers in the comments section.
Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. In Scream VI, Melissa Barrera ("Sam Carpenter"), Jasmin Savoy Brown ("Mindy Meeks-Martin"), Mason Gooding ("Chad Meeks-Martin"), Jenna Ortega ("Tara Carpenter"), Hayden Panettiere ("Kirby Reed"), and Courtney Cox ("Gale Weathers") return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra and Samara Weaving.
Scream VI slices its way into theaters on March 10.
