Silent Hill 2 will begin shooting this spring.

Take this as good news or bad news. It appears that a sequel is on the way and may begin shooting muck quicker than expected.

Producer Don Carmody most known for producing the Resident Evil franchise has revealed that Silent Hill 2 will commence shooting this spring in Toronto. Read below for the info.

"The sequel to 2006's Silent Hill will begin shooting in Toronto this coming spring, the film's producer says.

Speaking with Fear.Net, Don Carmody, the producer of both Silent Hill films and the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife, said that production on Silent Hill 2 is moving forward despite the hate mail he is receiving about it.

"We have always been cognizant of that — we can't make the movies just for gamers," he said. "Of course, we always run the risk of incurring the wrath of the gamers — who are very vocal. I did Silent Hill and we are planning a Silent Hill 2 — we were getting hate mail for that one."

Carmody says they plan to start on Silent Hill 2, meant to be a "more accessible" film than the last, in late spring in Toronto.

The producer also talked a bit about Resident Evil: Afterlife, which he just finished shooting. The fourth in the series will bring with it plenty more "zombies" and 3D.

"When Alice is running down a corridor firing machine guns, the shells are whizzing past your ears," he said. "It's quite amazing."

So what do you guys say? YAY OR NAY???

In case you did not know, which I doubt it Silent Hill was published as a comic-book .

Last I saw on this film, the writer they had hired was put in jail for a year for drunk driving and an accident. Silent Hill is probably one of, if not THE best video game movie adaptation we've seen, so I'm ok with this.

By the way...I've been traveling europe for two weeks. What'd I miss?

Silent Hill, as a few have already mentioned, is arguably one of the best game to film adaptations ever. They got the look and the feel of the game just right in that one.

Making the movie "more accessible" usually means he plans to dumb it down and turn in into pure popcorn fluff like Michael Bay films. Nothing really good comes from making things "more accessible" in terms of story and content. When you include the window lickers of society into your strategy, it usually means everything else will suffer for it, including us.

So as a fan of the first movie, if he keeps with the same creative formula, I'd totally go and see this. However, if he decides to get all Brett Ratner/Michael Bay and make it "more accessible" I may not bother with it.
