Earlier today, we reported that Lionsgate's horror thriller Texas Chainsaw 3D, the latest installment in the long-running franchise, is surpassing box office expectations, and will likely gross over $20M this weekend. This is an impressive figure despite the mostly negative reviews (the film currently has a 24% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), so it shouldn't come as a surprise that a sequel is reportedly moving forward (especially since the movie's producers acquired the rights to make seven installments). According to Bloody-Disgusting, the people who made Texas Chainsaw 3D will be going ahead with a follow-up to film, which is also a continuation of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And speaking with ShockTilYouDrop last month, Alexanda Daddario - who stars in Texas Chainsaw 3D - confirmed that she's locked in for another installment. "I was really excited to be a part of the franchise and I'm grateful and be happy to do another one, it'd be great. I know I'd like to make it something new and different. One of the things I like about [Texas Chainsaw] is it deviates from what people expect it to be." Do you want to see another Texas Chainsaw movie?

I like that the franchise finally moved forward to the present.

I admit that I enjoyed the turn it took with one of our favorite psychopaths.

This was just a bad movie all together. A cheap way to make money by using a big franchise name and then writing up a lazy script just for the hell of it also they added 3d for that extra tip just to say that the killings will jump at. I want my 20 dollars back for making me waste my hour and 30 mins. All in all the advertising got to us. Thats why im going to start reading critical receptions and reviews.

They said the same thing after the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th remakes were released. Never happened.

This movie will have a big opening weekend and then tank rapidly.

It's not a Dredd teaser pic, it's the same pic as the one in the article.

I think people just like to hate it. It took TCM to new levels, and was brilliantly terrifying. It makes you feel sympathy for ol' Leatherface and the Sawyer family. A sequel sounds fantastic.

Although the obvious flaws and some bad acting the movie was still fun. That's all that i cared about. Didn't go into the theater thinking i would see an award winner... and i didn't but i did have fun nonetheless. Looking forward to the sequel.

@CaptainCanti

No, people hate it because it's an awful, awful movie. It doesn't make you feel sympathy for Leatherface and the Sawyer family, as you claim it does.

Hollywood should stop giving us this shit and just funnel the money into less but better projects.

@TheGothamKnight1939

Thats your opinion. I thought the movie was [frick]ing awesome. And technically, there hasn't been a TCM movie since 2006, so don't give me the quality over quantity bullshit.
