The murderous maniac with a penchant for power tools and fashioning masks from his victims' faces is set to return for a direct sequel to '70s horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the full trailer is set to be released this Monday.
In the meantime, Netflix has debuted a new poster for the horror revival, giving us a teasing glimpse of Leatherface's redesigned mask.
According to producer Fede Álvarez, the movie will serve as a follow-up to Tobe Hooper's original, but unlike David Gordon Green's recent Halloween films, it won't necessarily ignore the events of the other TCM entries in the franchise.
"When I say 'direct sequel' I wouldn't say it skips everything," Álvarez explained. "When movies do that, sometimes it feels a bit disrespectful to all the other films. Some people love Texas Chainsaw 2. I love a lot of things about that movie — it's so wacky and of its time. But the rest is such a mess canon-wise. I think it's up to you to decide when and how the events of the other movies happen."
Check out the poster below along with the first teaser, and let us know if you're looking forward to Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on February 18.
