Apple TV+ (via SFFGazette.com) has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming eight-part drama, The Changeling, which stars Academy Award-nominee LaKeith Stanfield as a man who embarks on an increasingly surreal and perilous odyssey through the streets of a New York he never knew existed when his wife mysteriously vanishes.

Based on the acclaimed best-selling book by Victor LaValle, the show is described as "a fairytale for grown-ups. It’s a unique blend of horror, parenthood fable."

The trailer begins like it's teasing a very different kind of show, but when Clark Backo's character, Emma, recounts a story from her days travelling around South America, things start to take a decidedly more sinister and fantastical turn.

If the series follows the book, Emma does something unspeakable before disappearing without a trace, leaving her husband, Apollo, to descend into a nightmarish rabbit hole as he searched for answers.

The Changeling also stars Adina Porter, Samuel T. Herring, Alexis Louder, Jared Abrahamson, and special guest star Malcolm Barrett, and is set to make its global debut with the first three episodes on Friday, September 8, 2023, followed by a new episode every Friday through October 13.

Check out the trailer below along with a new poster, and let us know if you plan on watching The Changeling this September.

This looks cool as hell. I’m in. LaKeith is such a dynamic actor. Apple TV is really becoming the most versatile when it comes to interesting and prestige projects.

I'll give this a watch. Stanfield seems very one-note to me, but he does emote very well and is likeable enough.

AppleTV has been knocking it out of the park recently. I was really not impressed when it launched with just See and The Morning Show, but man they keep coming out with good series.

Getting my dealer on the phone as we speak because, man, I'm gonna need something heavy for this show. And a lot of it...
