Child's Play creator Don Mancini may not be too happy about it, but MGM is planning to move ahead with its remake of the classic '80s horror flick about a possessed doll named Chucky who terrorises a young boy and his mother, and we may now have some idea who's being lined up to play the latter.

According to That Hashtag Show, Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings, The Incredible Hulk) has been offered the role of little Andy's mother Karen, who gets a seriously hard time of it from ol' Chuckster in the original.

There's no indication if Tyler has shown any interest or not, but we'll keep you updated in that front.

Child's Play has Polaroid director Lars Klevberg on board to helm the project, which will be written by Tyler Burton Smith. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith (It) will produce.

@MasterMix - Exactly. The direct to Netflix sequels seem to have a good fan following. Why do a remake when 90% of horror remakes have been awful?

It's like Hollywood studios cannot find the courage and risk to produce an original new slasher.

@knocturnalzen10 - Yup! Such a great scene. She knows, Chucky knows she knows and it’s a matter of who’s gonna make the first move. The menacing “I’m Chucky Wanna Play” in the childlike doll voice lol. It’s a little thing but I also loved when she brings the doll home and she’s staring at him and he’s not looking at her until she tells him to say something and he blinks and looks up at her, right in the eyes and just says “Hi, I like to be hugged.” Haha so condescending, especially since we know he’s doing it on purpose (and getting pissed off).

@BlackLabsMatter - I had a replica good guy doll as a kid and never knew who or what "Chucky" was. So one night my father rented it from Blockbuster and I was super excited to see my favorite Doll in a movie.

1hr and 28 minutes later my parents are wrapping the good guy doll in a bag and tossing it in a dumpster. My aunt had to come sleep over because I was convinced he would wake up from the dumpster and slaughter my family. The garbage man had to knock on the door and confirm he disposed of the doll. I didn't sleep right for weeks.

@SonOfAGif - LOL. My sister had one of those dolls that would close its eyes if it layed flat and open them if it sat up. Needless to say I took that thing and hid it until my parents made me give it back. It's funny now but when I 6 it was just terrifying.

Child's Play remake....I'm down! I have Child's Play tattooed across my shoulders. I was given the nickname Chucky after a bad "My Buddy" costume for Halloween went afoul in 88. I'd love to see a remake. Who's is going to play the voice and Charles Lee Ray? I need to know! Maybe Sid Haig?
