The 1987 Cult classic "The Monster Squad" will be getting the remake treatment, says Deadline. Rob Cohen, who was a producer on the original film, is hoping to produce the new version. Cohen will also be producing the film and will be teaming with Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, who have brought us the latest onslaught of horror film remakes.
"The Monster Squad" follows a group of kids who happen to be big fans of the silver screen monsters. When they discover that Dracula and his pals, the Wolfman, Frankenstein, the Mummy and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, exist and are in town, the kids must stop them from retrieving an amulet that will allow them to rule the world. Not to mention the help of "Creepy German Guy."
ecksmanfan: I am a huge fan of this uber-cheesy movie, have been from the beginning. I'm not to thrilled about the idea of this remake, but maybe with Cohen still involved, he'll keep the original essence of the film. I'll admit, though, that'd be cool to see a big budget version of the film. What say you?
