Tim Burton Returning To Direct BEETLEJUICE Sequel?

Insiders for The Schmoes Know podcast have revealed to them that not only will Michael Keaton return to play the title role in the long-in development Beetlejuice sequel, but original director Burton might be along for the ride too.

It's showtime! At least according to The Schmoes, who reckon Tim Burton will be back terrorize and humorize a new generation of movie goers in the sequel (that's right, not reboot) to the '80s classic, Beetlejuice. It was already reported that former Batman Michael Keaton looked set to reprise the role, but now new inside info has Burton agreeing to helm the movie too. Apparently the director was thinking about dropping out of helming Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children at 20th Century Fox so he could return and direct the new Beetlejuice, but now he's shifted his schedule and is looking to do both films. Obviously we'll have to keep a question mark over this until something official is announced, but if it pans out how would you guys feel about Burton returning to this world?

Way to strike while the iron is still hot. I love Beetlejuice, but Burton lost his touch years ago. chances are this will just sully the original.

The thing is it needs to use purely analog effects to feel right. Something about a CG Sandworm just doesn't feel right.

If this is true this could be great news. The original doesnt need a sequel, but after so many years they may have a really fresh new idea that could really add to it... hopefully

Demongod20

I hope they don't treat it as a sequel. Just let it be the same character with a new story in the present time. It doesn't have to tie directly into the original. It should just be them introducing Beetlejuice to a new generation.
