VIDEO: Go BTS Of The Very Tense Silly Climax Of WORLD WAR Z

EW have debuted an exclusive behind-the-scenes video from the extras on the World War Z Blu-ray, giving us an insight into the shooting of that scene near the end with Brad Pitt getting up close and personal with a zombie.

Towards the end of the movie many critics called a "smart take on the zombie genre", Brad Pitt's character finds himself in a room full of deadly viruses, with a zombie right outside the door. One of those viruses holds the key to finding a way to immunize themselves from the plague that's swept the world, but he isn't sure which one. He has no direct contact with his doctor pals in the control room, BUT, they can see him on camera, they have access to a phone outside, and he has a pen and paper! So obviously he just needs to write the name of the viruses on the pad, hold it up to the camera and tell them to ring the phone when he comes to a safe one right? Nah, he writes "tell my family I love them" instead and then takes a gamble. Click on the image below to see how that (otherwise admittedly tense) scene was filmed.

World War Z hits DVD and Blu-ray next Tuesday.

At least they didnt have Cumberbatch show up with Jesus blood to save the day.
The film was better than IM3, MOS and Into Darkness but that's not saying much.
This has been the most lackluster year for movies I've ever seen. Not one great film.

wavehunter, no he didn't need to make a call..the doctors just needed to ring the phone when he came to a virus that wouldn't instantly kill him.

or move the camera back and forth *i.e. 'no'* when he pulled up the wrong one.
whatever though, I thought it was a solid flick.

@ RorMachine

I agree with what you are saying but that would have ruined the suspense and climax.

If they called him to verify a virus with just a ring it would have attracted the other zombies to his location, and there is no telling how many times they would have to ring him until he came upon a reasonable one. it still could have been climatic with the zombies all trying to bust through the window trying to get to him while he injects the virus and waits for it to kick in while holding off the zombies, and then when they break through, he just walks out past all of them like a boss.
