Robert Downey Jr. Confirms That There Is Still "No Plan" For IRON MAN 4
Despite the fact that Iron Man 3 is Marvel Studios' second highest grossing release of all-time with over $1 billion worldwide, Robert Downey Jr. seems adamant that there won't be a fourth instalment any time soon. And how does he feel about someone else taking over?
Robert Downey Jr.'s current contract with Marvel Studios has him committed to only one more Avengers movie now that Avengers: Age of Ultron has wrapped. Though Marvel continues to find success with recent releases like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, nothing has come close to Iron Man 3's box office haul of $1.2 billion worldwide. The fact that we've heard nothing about a fourth movie seems baffling, but in a recent interview with Variety, Downey Jr. confirmed that there are still no plans for another instalment in the franchise. "There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man.'" As for whether he would "let" anyone take over the role, the actor replied: "I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel," before his co-star in The Judge Robert Duvall told him, "Don’t give it to anybody else." Whether he does end up passing the mantle remains to be seen, but you have to imagine that Downey Jr. could pretty much ask for any amount for Iron Man 4 and Marvel would give it to him. For now, we'll have to wait and see. What do you guys think?
