Honorable Mentions:
Matthew Vaughn-I Like His Style And Kick-Ass Was A Great Mix Of Action And Comedy But He Would Be Too Busy With X-Men
Alfonso Cuaron-I Really Like Him As A Director But I Don't Believe He Would Be Able To Deliver Comedy
Guilermo Del Toro-I Would LOVE this guy to direct but he is such a popular director (just like Robert Rodriguez) I doubt he would have time with The Haunted Mansion,(Rumoured) Hellboy 3 and he'd be better off as Dr. Strange director.
10.Edgar Wright
Film Credits:
Shaun Of The Dead
Hot Fuzz
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
Has proven he candle handle comedy and is familiar with comic book movies with Scott Pilgrim under his belt but never has handled a big budget movie.
9.Shane Black
Film Credits:
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Has already collaborated with Downey on the great and hilarious Kiss Kiss Bang Bang but still is a rookie director.
8.Joe Carnahan
Film Credits:
The A-Team
Smokin Aces
Narc
Has nailed action with A-Team and Smokin Aces but has yet to show he can put comedy into his films.
7.Peter Berg
Film Credits:
Hancock
The Kingdom
Welcome To The Jungle
Put comedy and action into Hancock yet wasn't the greatest movie so still pretty unproven.
6.Neill Blomkamp
Film Credits:
District 9
Alive In Joburg
Yellow
Directed the amazing District 9 but yet to show us how he handles other films with bigger budgets.
5.Brad Bird
Film Credits:
The Incredibles
Ratatouille
The Iron Giant
Incredibles was one of the best animated films ever but Brad Bird has not shown us what he can do with live-action and we'll find out next year when he directs Mission Impossible IV:Ghost Protocol.
4.Duncan Jones
Film Credits:
Moon
If Sam Rockwell returns for IM3 then expect him to nominate this man for director. Director of the smash hit Moon and the upcoming Source Code, big things are tipped for this guy.
3.JJ Abrams
Film Credits:
Star Trek
Mission Impossible III
JJ Abrams was the writer of the failed Superman:Flyby and from what I read about that project, I was certainly impressed. Mission Impossible III was one of the best movies I've ever seen and when I headed to see Star Trek (Something I've Never Been A Fan Of) I was impressed and I liked it. Linked to almost every CBM, this guy is one of my favourite directors.
2.Gore Verbinski
Film Credits:
Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy
The Mexican
The Ring
Having a good relationship with Disney will be a vital factor for this man. He directed the Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy which was a great mix of action and comedy at its best. He also directed one of the films I loved, The Mexican and The Ring also got pretty good reviews. I think this guy has what it takes to take over the reigns for Iron Man 3.
1.Guy Ritchie
Film Credits:
Sherlock Holmes
Lock,Stock And Two Smoking Barrels
RocknRolla
I was never convinced by Guy in any of his movies before Sherlock Holmes. I personally loved Sherlock Holmes with good action, wise cracks and mind bending puzzles. I now totally understand his style and watch all his movies with a new light. Has worked with Downey before and I think this is the man to take on Iron Man 3.
My Personal View:
I personally believe that any of the top 3 would be great for Iron Man 3 but I think who ever takes over should start their own trilogy but still a continuation of Favreau's movies. Use Armor Wars for the first movie, then for the second movie introdce The Mandarin and finish it off with Demon In A Bottle. I loved Iron Man but IM2 just felt like an introduction to The Avengers and it didn't feel like an Iron Man movie. Plus Mickey Rourke had a disgustingly amount of screen time. I think its time to prove Favreau wrong for quitting Iron Man and make a trilogy way better than his would of been.
