The frightfully butchered version of Justice League that made its way to theaters in 2017 eliminated the work of several people who worked very hard for DC's ultimate team-up movie - among them stunt performer Nick McKinless who was handed the opportunity of a lifetime - to play iconic Old God Ares in a small but memorable role in the film's history sequence which set out the backstory of the entire DC universe.
McKinless committed to the role in a big way, getting in the greatest shape of his life at 45 years old after following a brutal bodybuilding regime and diet for 4 months and achieving 220 pounds of muscle with just 6% bodyfat. Original director Snyder demanded 'veins like worms and paper-thin skin' and McKinless delivered - showcasing a hyper-shredded look befitting the God of War.
Only to see months of toil reduced to mere seconds of screentime, his hard-won physique topped by not his own face (but Wonder Woman's David Thewlis), his name erased and allegedly an entire fight scene with Darkseid on the cutting floor.
Now with the Snyder Cut offering redemption to several contributors, McKinless wants his just returns too - hoping to get his due credit, recognition, and compensation. See his instagram post below.
