Ben Affleck Not Expected To Return As BATMAN For Matt Reeves' Movie, But May Appear In FLASHPOINT
It looks like we may finally have some solid information about the current status of Ben Affleck's Batman in The DCEU, as a new report indicates that the actor has (all-but) hung up the cape 'n cowl...
Buried in Variety's report on the upcoming shakeup at Warner Bros. is an update on Ben Affleck's status as The Dark Knight in the DCEU, and it's not looking good for those that hoped to see him reprise the role for Matt Reeves' The Batman.
According to the trade, it is now "highly unlikely" that Affleck will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman for Reeves' film - however, he is expected to play the iconic DC hero one more time for the planned Flashpoint movie.
Conflicting Reports Continue To Emerge About Ben Affleck Returning To Play BATMAN - Here's The Latest
Though there have been conflicting reports about this whole situation for quite some time, this won't come as too big a surprise to many, as Affleck himself indicated that he was planning to hang up the cowl while doing the press rounds for Justice League. At any rate, even if he did want to return, Reeves reportedly wants to "cast the role with fresh talent."
We recently found out that Jake Gyllenhaal might be in the running to replace Affleck, and now Radar Online reckons Jon Hamm would like a crack at the Bat, and is said to be "desperate for the gig." Probably best not to put too much stock in that for the time being, though.
What do you guys think of this news? Is it for the best, or would you prefer to see Affleck stay on as Batman?
