JUSTICE LEAGUE: 10 Most Likely Possibilities For The Blu-ray's Mysterious "Bonus Scene"

A recent cover reveal confirmed that the Justice League Blu-ray will feature a "Bonus Scene" we didn't see in theaters, so what could that be? Here, we take a look at the most likely possibilities...

As of right now, all the signs are pointing to us NOT getting a director's or extended cut for Justice League. A number of listings for the movie have surfaced and not one of them points to any additional scenes being added, while common sense says that Warner Bros. isn't going to now throw in a bunch of unfinished scenes they spent an awful lot of money removing and replacing via reshoots.

However, with newly released cover art promising a "Bonus Scene Not Seen In Theaters," we can't help but wonder what that might be and why the studio has decided to add it to the movie here.

After all, deleted and extended scenes are no great surprise on a Blu-ray but the way this is advertised clearly hints at Justice League featuring an additional sequence as a treat of sorts. So, what might that be? We've done some investigative work to try and figure that out, coming up with ten possibilities...

10. Darkseid

When Warner Bros. decided that they wanted to put the breaks on a Justice League sequel, Joss Whedon was reportedly asked to change the ending and remove a cliffhanger revolving around Darkseid. According to Kevin Smith, the movie was going to end with Steppenwolf being executed by the villain, while Superman was also set to have a vision featuring the evil ruler of Apokolips.

Either one of those scenes would be great to see but the studio may be reluctant to commit to whatever Zack Snyder had planned for Darkseid, especially as the future of the franchise
is in doubt. This would definitely serve as an incentive to fans to pick up the Blu-ray after skipping it in theaters.

9. Lex Luthor's Escape

We never get to see how Lex Luthor escapes from Arkham Asylum but it obviously had something to do with Deathstroke. Both characters appear in the after-credits scene and while we don't know for sure that more than just this scene was shot, it was rumoured for a very long time that Lex would have a significant role in Justice League, especially as he was the one who brought Steppenwolf to Earth.

While a lot of fans may not like Jesse Eisenberg's take on the iconic Superman villain, more of him and Deathstroke would definitely be interesting, especially if we really are getting the Injustice League.

8. Superman Finds The Black Suit

Justice League never reveals how Superman got his suit back but it's been reported that one deleted scene would have featured him returning to the Kryptonian ship where he would have also come across the iconic black costume fans were hoping would make it into the movie from the very start.

While the Man of Steel was never going to actually wear it (which is a major disappointment), this would have been an amazing Easter Egg for comic book fans and a great way of referencing the character's comic book history. Sure, Superman getting dressed may not seem like the most exciting bonus scene on the surface but seeing that black suit would definitely be worth paying for.

7. "He Said You'd Come"

This scene from the trailers got everyone talking. Who could it be that Alfred was talking to? Superman? Green Lantern? Booster Gold? The fan theories were endless and it's fair to say that we all went into Justice League hoping to be surprised by this. Alas, it was another scene left on the cutting room floor and including this on the Blu-ray would surely pique the interest of most fans.

Even if the answer is underwhelming and Alfred is only talking to Cyborg or Lois Lane, it would be fun getting to see this scene; it's just hard to say whether it could be made to fit into the movie now.

6. The Flash Saves Iris West

With Flashpoint's future in doubt (no pun intended), Kiersey Clemons's Iris West ended up being cut from Justice League but it's since been reported that Warner Bros. has completed the scene for the Blu-ray release of the movie swapping the actress for someone else. An unfinished version of the scene leaked online and it looks pretty good but is it really worth shelling out money to see it on the Blu-ray?

Probably not. However, The Flash emerged as a fan-favourite from the DC Comics adaptation so you can understand why the studio probably thinks it's a good idea to give us a little more of the speedster.

5. The Proposal

Almost the entire exchange between Clark Kent and Lois Lane after he returns from the dead came as a result of reshoots but the trailers showed a very different conversation in which they discussed the fact that she's wearing the ring he never had the opportunity to give her in Batman v Superman

This may not be the most exciting to
action-packed scene but it's one fans would appreciate and it would arguably make this entire exchange between them easier to watch (the version we got in theaters is hard to sit through due to Superman's horrendous CGI mouth). There's no doubt even more than just that which ended up on the cutting room floor so it's a solid candidate for sure.

4. Something Completely New

Joss Whedon reshot a massive chunk of Justice League but there has to be at least one or two scenes the filmmaker shot which didn't make it into the final cut. So, while we know about a lot of scenes from the trailers which didn't make it into the movie (all of which were probably shot by Zack Snyder), there's a very good chance that Whedon could have some surprises in store for us too.

He clearly had fun shooting that race between Superman and The Flash, so it's entirely possible there's another fan-pleasing moment out there which didn't wind up being chosen as a mid-credits scene. What that could be is a total mystery and it may not even exist. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

3. Cyborg's Origin Story

It's no secret that pretty much all of Cyborg's origin story ended up on the cutting room floor and while we've heard that the character's solo movie will delve into that, it would be much smarter for Warner Bros. to make good use of those scenes and flesh out the hero so we actually care about him!

Whether it's the football game we've seen in the trailers or even that unfinished sequence revolving around Nazi Germany (what relevance that had to the overarching story is impossible to say), Cyborg getting more screentime would be far from a bad thing, especially when he failed to make an impact here. The question is, would it really generate any sort of excitement as a bonus scene?

2. Alfred Meets The Team

Last year, a scene featuring Alfred's first meeting with the League appeared online without any audio and it wouldn't be a bad choice to put on the Blu-ray thinking about it. While it was clearly a moment played for laughs, if Warner Bros. isn't willing to pull back the curtain on more meaningful scenes which have an impact on the future of the DC Films Universe, this is probably the best choice.

It's not going to change Justice League in a significant way but Batman's loyal butler saying hello to the likes of Aquaman and The Flash would be enjoyable to see play out and could be a highlight.

1. Superman With A Moustache

Come on, you have to admit that it would be pretty damn awesome to finally see what Henry Cavill looked like suited up with his moustache slicked back! Even if you hated the movie, it would be worth paying extra to see this as a "bonus scene" and it would look a lot better than that CGI mouth-trosity
