JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Shows His Support For The "Ayer Cut" Of SUICIDE SQUAD

Zack Snyder got the chance to return to Justice League and see his vision for the DC Comics team-up movie to fruition, but will David Ayer be afforded the same opportunity for his cut of Suicide Squad?

David Ayer began to tease his original version of Suicide Squad around the same time Zack Snyder's Justice League was officially announced, and has continued to gain support for his director's cut of the divisive DC Comics movie since.

During an interview with John Doe Movie Reviews, Snyder was asked if he knew anything about the "Ayer Cut," and revealed that while he's yet to speak to the director about it, he fully supports Ayer - and filmmakers in general - being given the opportunity to realize their visions.

“I haven’t talked to David about it, but I’m sure I will. I know him quite well,” said Snyder. “I’ve just been swamped because of COVID. But it’s on my list of things to talk to him about. Like, I support any filmmaker who needs to get their version of their movie or their vision sort of seen, because I’ve had such generous support. So, I really would hope that other people would get that same thing.”

Ayer has always maintained that Warner Bros. made extensive alternations to his film, and that the theatrical release differed considerably from his original vision for Task Force X. The filmmaker has strongly hinted that a director's cut does exist in the past, and recently revealed that he's watched it "for the first time since it was abandoned," and that "it is f*cking amazing."

Whether we actually get to see a director's cut of Suicide Squad remains uncertain, but it may very well depend on how the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League does when it comes to HBO Max next year.

Good film but a terrible SW production

The filmmaker has strongly hinted that a director's cut does exist in the past

Sure, the hint was insisting the movie didn't need a director's cut because the film that hit the theaters was his vision, but it was a hint.

As an artist: great for Zack to support a fellow filmmaker.

As a fan: please don't. Can't we just move on from some things? Suicide Squad came out, it was bad but financially profitable. A sequel is coming out, no need to change it up now.

What's DCs obsession with Directors Cuts anyways? Par Man of Steel there has been an Extended Cut for every single on of their movies.

@Reeds2Much - probably, I mean...I'm certainly one of their best sheep. Bought every DC movie out of sheer brand-loyalty even though I utterly loathe MoS, BvS, SS, BoP & JL.

I have problems...

@Blergh - But as much as you oppose the idea, many others want it. So, as a fan, will you accept that others want this, and be happy for them and David if they get an "Ayer's Cut"? It's not hurting anything, and it just might help convince studios to increase the odds of allowing directors to do what they all originally agreed on.

It will be fun. No harm done.

I remember there being like 15 minutes of footage left for SS, not sure how much that can change the outcome lmao

At what point do Snyder, Ayer, Ray Fisher, and all their cultists get checked into group therapy?
