Joe Manganiello never really got to make his mark as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, only appearing as the character a single time in a brief post-credits stinger for the theatrical release of Justice League. The True Blood alum will return as the lethal mercenary for the upcoming "Snyder Cut," however, so hopefully he'll be given a real opportunity to sink his teeth into the role.
Before being cast as Deathstroke, Manganiello was a top contender to play Superman in Man of Steel, but was forced to pass on the opportunity because of his commitments to True Blood. During a new interview with Light Cast, the actor discusses missing out on the chance to don the iconic red and blue suit.
"I don’t like to really dwell on things that didn’t happen," he says when asked if he's still pissed off about losing the role. "What can you do? I was signed for 6 years on a TV show… That was my job."
Something good did come of that meeting with Snyder, though, because he was ultimately cast as Deathstroke for Ben Affleck's planned Batman movie. Of course, that didn't happen either, but Manganiello does seem to hint that there might be something else in the works for the character beyond his upcoming appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League.
He declines to go into specifics when pushed, simply stating that he's "got some really cool fun stuff on the way" with the filmmaker.
