The 10 Lamest Characters In 2017's Marvel And DC Superhero Movies We Never Want To See Again

It's been a busy year for both Marvel and DC but they both delivered some truly horrendous characters we're glad to see the back of! Hit the jump for a breakdown of 2017's lamest heroes and villains...

What a year it's been for superhero movies! There have been ups and downs but overall, it's fair to say that it's been a pretty damn good twelve months for us all. 2018 is shaping up to be even better but before we get to that, we're going to take a look back at some highlights and disappointments from this year. For starters, we're taking a look at ten characters we believe were the biggest let downs by far.

While there were a lot of standout heroes, villains, and supporting characters in Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and Justice League, many were let downs and there are some we definitely never want to see return to the big screen. So, keep reading for our top ten picks and to see if the characters you hated have made the cut here...

10. The Flash

Played by: Ezra Miller

Starred in: Justice League

Memorable Quote: "I eat a lot of snacks to fill this black hole. I'm a snack hole!"

In some respects, Ezra Miller was a highlight of Justice League but as the Flash, the results were mixed. Say what you will about The CW but Grant Gustin is a considerably better Barry Allen and doesn't come across like Kid-Flash the way Miller does. Between his clumsiness, goofy jokes, and weird style of running, it's hard to imagine anyone being overly keen on seeing more of this Scarlet Speedster.

9. X-24

Played by: Hugh Jackman

Starred in: Logan

Memorable Quote: None

As great as it may have been to see Hugh Jackman back in his prime as Wolverine, X-24 was easily the lamest part of Logan and to see the titular character taken out by his "clone" was nothing short of a let down. Had Sabretooth or another powerful mutant with ties to the hero been the cause of the X-Man's demise then that would have been one thing but X-24 felt lazy, uninspired, and, well, pretty boring.

8. The Warriors Three

Played by: Zachary Levi, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano

Starred in: Thor: Ragnarok

Memorable Quote: None

There was no sign of Jaimie Alexander in Taika Waititi's critically acclaimed threequel and she should probably be thankful for that due to the appalling way The Warriors Three were treated. Fandral and Volstagg were killed by Hela in a matter of seconds and while Hogun was given a chance to fight back, he too died quickly After two movies of poor treatment, this trio deserved much better than this.

7. Stakar Ogord

Played by: Sylvester Stallone

Starred in: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Memorable Quote: "I don't gotta listen to nothing! You betrayed the code! Ravagers don't deal in kids."

Maybe this is down to me not being a huge fan of the "original" Guardians but Sylvester Stallone's appearance in Vol. 2 just didn't work for me. Whereas his work in Creed showed what good the actor can still do on the big screen, it felt like he was just phoning it in here with a typical Sly performance. How anyone can be excited to see him and the rest of his teammates down the line is beyond me.

6. Steppenwolf

Played by: Ciaran Hinds

Starred in: Justice League

Memorable Quote: "For Darkseid!"

Forgetting for a moment just how crummy Steppenwolf looked throughout the vast majority of Justice League, this CGI villain was pretty much a failure on every level. His plan served the story to the extent it needed to but beyond being someone for the team to punch, he was neither overly threatening nor particularly exciting. Steppenwolf's plan was too straightforward and these heroes deserved better.

5. General Erich Ludendorff

Played by: Danny Huston

Starred in: Wonder Woman

Memorable Quotes: "What are you?"

Wonder Woman was an awesome movie and the characters were definitely a highlight. General Ludendorff, however, was not and he came across as little more than just another stereotypical German bad guy. While his presence gave us a pretty great twist in regards to Ares' true identity, it would have been much better to see the DC Comics adaptation put the spotlight on Doctor Poison.

4. Zendaya

Played by: Zendaya

Starred in: Spider-Man: Homecoming

Memorable Quotes: "My friends call me 'MJ'"

Before Spider-Man: Homecoming was released, there was a lot of hype surrounding Zendaya's character, including the possibility of her being a fresh take on Mary Jane Watson. Instead, she was just plain old Michelle which was fine until the cringe-worthy moment she told Peter Parker and friends that her pals call her "MJ." In-joke or not, that ruined this potential love interest in one fell swoop.

3. Zander Rice

Played by: Richard E. Grant

Starred in: Logan

Memorable Quote: "What the f*ck do you think you're doing?"

Going into Logan, we all expected Mister Sinister to be the movie's big bad and instead, we got...Zander Rice? While plenty of movies have taken little-known villains and made them great, that was not the case here and his lack of any real history with Wolverine (beyond his father being killed which we learned in a throwaway line) means he wasn't worthy of being responsible for his demise.

2. Flash Thompson

Played by: Tony Revolori

Starred in: Spider-Man: Homecoming

Memorable Quote: "Uh, sir technically this is my dad's car."

Marvel Studios deserves praise for surrounding Tom Holland's Peter Parker with a diverse supporting cast but Revolori was horribly miscast as Flash Thompson regardless of his appearance. As well as not looking even remotely intimidating, he may have picked on his classmate but we've now lost the possibility of ever really seeing Flash's transition from jock to army vet to one of Peter's best friends.

1. Mera

Played by: Amber Heard

Starred in: Justice League

Memorable Quote: "Your mother would have gone to the surface world to stop that thing. But she's not here, so it has to be you."

What a disappointment! When Zack Snyder shared a photo of Amber Heard on the Icelandic set of Justice League, it appeared as if we were getting a proper introduction for the character and that she had the potential to be a standout character we'd all be excited about seeing again in Aquaman. Instead, she was given a cameo which was clearly the result of reshoots and wasn't remotely likeable.

And remove Stallone's Starhawk, because he deserves his own Guardians team.

X-24 & Zander Rice were great character foils for Laura & Logan with X-24 representing Logan’s past & Laura’s future

Only a child who feels that TASM1 was the best Spider-Man film would consider them “lame”

So it’s lame for their to be a clone of Wolverine in a film about Logan having a female clone of himself? Lolz

Had Sabertooth been in the film, it would feel random & fan service not making any sense to how Victor randomly becomes a mind controlled killing machine & would require scenes to showcase his backstory

They should have just cast Grant Gustin as Flash. They wouldn't have to link it to the Arrowverse or anything but it would've been better than Miller.
