Ant-Man will be confronting his biggest, toughest challenge yet in his next titular titled movie, that being against the villain of Kang The Conqueror. Although he will pose as no match to Kang, Ant-Man will not be attempting to stop him alone, with The Wasp, and newcomer Stature on his side.
Stature, also known as Scott's daughter Cassie Lang, has been a recurring character we have seen in both of the previous Ant-Man films, but as a younger, more adorable side character for Scott.
Avengers Endgame provided us with a much older-looking Cassie, who looked to be in her mid-late teen years since she was not wiped away by the blip.
How Cassie had managed to survive the blip when she was just a little girl and neither of her parents were around to support her? I have no idea, but she has now grown into a young woman who is ready to help her dad kick some ass!
From what the first teaser trailer of Ant-man and The Wasp: Quantamania had shown us, aside from Cassie's technology being the blame for why she, her dad, and the rest of the team got sucked into the Quantum Realm in the first place, she still remains to be a young teenage girl.
Assuming that a few months to a year had passed since the events of Endgame, we could guess that Cassie in Endgame was about 17 years old, now that Ant-Man director Peyton Reed had come out, stating that Cassie will be turning 18 in the third installment of the franchise. Not the best way to celebrate your birthday being in the Quantum Realm.
"I think we've all grown [with] what we want to do with the movies and how we see the character [and] the family dynamics after the events of [Avengers: Infinity War]" Reed shared with Nerdbunker. "It occurred to us, 'Well, Cassie's going to be 18 in this movie, that's great.'"
He continued, "I love the idea of Scott still relating to Cassie as a kid, but she's not, she's a young adult now. She has her own ideas of what it means to do good in the world and she's trying to find her voice as a hero. She can also be a little critical of her father."
So what is so spectacular about Cassie turning 18 during the events of Ant-Man 3? It actually expands her career as a young superhero, because it will set her up to be a main player as a part of the infamous Young Avengers team!
This will add to the team of already established members we have seen in prior movies: America Chavez, Billy and Tommy Maximoff, Riri Williams, Kate Bishop, Kamla Khan, Kid Loki, and now added to the bunch, Cassie Lang.
Considering Cassie is much older than most of these characters, her role in the upcoming, yet unannounced Young Avengers project will stand out as more of a leader, and elite hero out of the squad.
