For the first time ever, ComicBookMovie.com will be in attendance during the D23 Expo, as Rohan Patel heads to Anaheim to get all the biggest scoops and reveals about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe directly from Kevin Feige himself.

The biggest panel of the weekend will begin on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. PST, and while details are scarce, all signs have pointed to the cast of Fantastic Four being revealed during the special presentation. There's also a strong chance we get further clarity on Phase 5 and Phase 6, with possible X-Men reveals coming too.

Along with Marvel Studios, the early presentation will also feature Lucasfilm and 20th Century Studios, so expect some updates on The Mandalorian season three and maybe some news on their future theatrical slate.

Here's a schedule of the presentations we'll definitely be attending this weekend, including the two big ones - Disney/Pixar on Friday afternoon and Marvel Studios on Saturday morning. We'll be live blogging both panels on CBM, so make sure to tune in a little ahead of the scheduled time to prepare yourself for a few hours of nonstop announcements.

@NakedAvenger -

They're saving that until after secret wars.

We will for sure get mutants though. Maybe a wolverine solo or cyclops film

@AmazingFILMporg - you think Cyclops can carry his own movie? He seems more like a team player than a solo act to me.

@WruceBayne - I'd like to see some of the X-films have a clear "lead", even if the rest of the ensemble are still big names. (Basically like Fox did with Wolverine, except not make the lead Wolverine all the time.) In that specific way, Scott or Storm or Kitty or Rogue can absolutely carry a movie.

But what I don't want is a big Cyclops Origins: Havin' a Blast kind of movie where they intentionally separate him from the context of the school, and then surround him with a completely different ensemble cast (because all of these movies need a strong supporting cast anyway).

@WruceBayne - I don't want to put words in porgysmouth, but I think he means mutants in secret wars

@WruceBayne - Cyclops can totally carry his own movie. He's got a very interesting past with lots of connections to the wider X-Men universe. The Shi'ar and Sinister mainly.

But I don't think it would be wise to be one of the first films. Cyclops has a certain stigma about him and most people either think he's just a boring boycott or a complete asshole. So giving him a movie out of the box isn't smart. But if they show him in other movies and make him the badass he should be and gain the fans' interest in him, then a solo movie would work great. Especially if Sinister is the X-Men's big bad in their first series of movies. It can really help set up some backstory with Sinister.

Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 9/8/2022, 3:43 PM
@CorndogBurglar - Actually, yeah. If the movie is "Cyclops and the Starjammers", then that could work as a solo.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2022, 3:48 PM
@Spock0Clock - They should do a Disney+ series called The Mutants and each episode should introduce a different mutant that lives at the mansion.

Episode 1 could be Xavier and his back story of how he started his dream.

Episode 2 is Cyclops. Show his past. His parents getting taken by the Shi'ar and him and Alex parachuting from their plane to safety. His time in the orphanage that was run by a shadowy figure, who the X-Men movies later reveal to be Sinister. And end with Xavier rescuing Scott from the orphanage and making him his first student.

Episode 3 is Storm and he past.

Episode 4 Jean.

And so on and so on. Finish season 1 with about 12 episodes worth of characters. Then the X-Men films won't need to take any time to introduce characters.

Each X-Men film could have a base team of 3 or 4 people that are in all the movies: Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Jean or Emma. Then each movie can alternate 2 or 3 other characters based on the mission in the movie.

If they need stealth and muscle they bring Nightcrawler and Colossus. If they need to break into some place they bring Gambit. If they're fighting Sentinels they bring heavy hitters like Rogue and Colossus.

Basically, set the movies up like the old Justice League Unlimited cartoon. 3 or 4 reoccurring X-Men in every movie, plus 2 or 3 additional members per movie.

@CorndogBurglar - Same idea but with the original team instead. X, Clops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Beast, Angel. Then down the line we will see shows for nightcrawler and shadowcat and rogue.

If we get anything mutant related, it’ll likely be project announcements but I don’t think we will
get any cast yet. They won’t want to overshadow the Fantastic Four announcement.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2022, 3:41 PM
@mountainman - If Denzel and Esposito are Xavier and Magneto then they will definitely announce that. They are both supposedly scheduled to be there.
mountainman
mountainman - 9/8/2022, 3:43 PM
@CorndogBurglar - Oh I agree. It just seems like that would over shadow any FF announcements, which seems counterintuitive from a business standpoint.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2022, 3:51 PM
@mountainman - I hear ya. But I think everyone will just be excited about all the announcements that it won't matter.

But I do agree. The announcement of having a black Xavier and Magneto alone would be huge news. Add to that those actors' names? They will definitely be the big talk of the show.
mountainman
mountainman - 9/8/2022, 3:57 PM
@CorndogBurglar - There will be conflict from those that like source accuracy and dislike race swaps combined with the excitement for first MCU mutant announcements and huge actors in the role.

I feel like if they combined this announcement with FF announcement, the movie coming out sooner will get overshadowed. Maybe they will have more to share from FF than just casting 🤯
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/8/2022, 4:04 PM
@mountainman - I mean, I've said it already. I hate race swaps of any kind. So I'm not even sure how I'll feel if Xavier and Magneto are black. But at the end of the day, I just hope the X-Men are done in a good way. I really don't want them to follow Hickman's nonsense island dwelling hippy X-Men.
