There's a lot of intrigue surrounding Marvel Studios' Wonder Man, and this subversive take on Hollywood is clearly attracting some big names.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, the latest addition may be The Mandalorian star Werner Herzog. He's known for far more than just playing The Client, of course, and has had an incredible career both behind and in front of the camera. There's no word on who Herzog has potentially been cast as, though it's not exactly difficult to picture him as a villain!
It's also claimed that The Walking Dead and Mindhunter star Lauren Glazier is also in talks for a mystery role, and your guess is as good as ours when it comes to who she's playing.
This news follows reports that Demetrius Grosse will star as the villainous Grim Reaper in the show.
Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast as the title character, of course, while Sir Ben Kingsley has signed on to reprise his Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings role as thespian Trevor Slattery. There have also been rumblings that Marvel Studios is eyeing Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk for a "special role."
Scream and Friends legend Courtney Cox is thought to be in talks for the series, but it's important to note that nothing has been confirmed at this stage. The show is thought to be a priority for Marvel Studios, though, and given Wonder Man's history with The Avengers, he's likely to be key to this shared world.
Andrew Guest serves as Head Writer, and his credits include hit TV shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, 30 Rock, and Community.
Wonder Man made his Marvel Comics debut in the pages of Avengers #9 in 1964. Initially a villain, he was later retconned and became a hero (and an Avenger) in the 1970s. His brother is the Grim Reaper, while it was his brainwaves that were used by Ultron as a basis for The Vision; later, he would join the West Coast Avengers and become a Hollywood star.
Wonder Man is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
