10 Marvel Cinematic Universe Movie Supporting Characters Who Deserve Their Own Disney+ Spinoff Series

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, and with countless supporting characters in this shared world, we have some ideas about which heroes and villains should be next to get a Disney+ spinoff.

While Avengers: Endgame concluded the "Infinity Saga," Marvel Studios has shown no sign of slowing down. In fact, the launch of Disney+ has led to them expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a variety of ways, with new characters taking centre stage and familiar faces receiving major overhauls.

On the big screen, we've also met a lot of new faces, while the stories of various MCU vets continue. With everyone from Hawkeye to the Scarlet Witch and even Groot getting the chance to shine on the streaming service, that got us thinking: which other movie characters deserve their own Disney+ spinoff?

In this feature, we're taking a look at 10 candidates who it would be awesome to see get the spotlight on TV. Having played a supporting role to the likes of Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain America, and Thor, there are a lot of great stories that could be told with the heroes and villains mentioned here.

10. America Chavez

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness barely scratched the surface of who America Chavez is. The sequel also spent more time addressing the fact her two moms were in a lesbian relationship than touching on America's own sexuality as an openly gay young woman.

With that in mind, the level of character development a TV series can offer would be welcomed. Talking of America's moms, the hunt for them throughout the Multiverse should be a priority for Marvel Studios in any sort of spinoff, especially as it would mean we can visit even more alternate realities (hopefully leading to us crossing paths with a whole host of unexpected Variants).

America's ability to travel through the Multiverse is likely to make her a key player in the MCU moving forward, and setting the stage for that in a show better establishing her place in the MCU is a must.

9. Red Guardian

Black Widow added a lot of new characters to the MCU, and while Yelena Belova has already made her presence felt in Hawkeye, we've yet to learn what became of everyone else post-Blip.

There have to be more stories to tell with Taskmaster, for example, but it's David Harbour's Red Guardian we'd appreciate seeing in his own Disney+ series. The Russian hero was one we had a lot of fun spending time with, and now he's a free man - whose daughter just died in tragic circumstances - it feels like the right time to pick up with him.

Putting the spotlight on a patriotic Russian character given everything that's happening in the world could be a tough sell, but there must be a way to handle that in a respectful manner. Perhaps Red Guardian could be shown turning his back on his country in an effort to (comically, no doubt) start a new life in America?

8. Korg

Korg was Thor: Ragnarok's breakout character, and he continued to entertain us in Avengers: Endgame. A Taika Waititi creation, the Kronan warrior is ridiculously loveable and never anything short of hilarious.

Based on what we've seen from Thor: Love and Thunder, the hero is going to step up and join the God of Thunder on his latest adventure in a big way. We think he deserves more than just a supporting role, though, and would love to see Korg get his own Disney+ series. Spending more time with him would be fun, but so too would actually getting to know him a little better.

Yes, he's good for a laugh, but why not take him back to his home planet or even explore his time in The Grandmaster's arena? The main appeal here is that a show like this would present the opportunity to throw some other obscure alien characters into the mix like Beta Ray Bill or the Bi-Beast!

7. M'Baku

Our hope heading into Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is that M'Baku will be the new Black Panther. While Shuri seems like the obvious choice, the controversy surrounding Letitia Wright has led to most fans making it clear they're not overly keen on her picking up where the late Chadwick Boseman left off.

If Winston Duke's leader of the Jabari Tribe does become Black Panther, then it goes without saying he should continue taking centre stage on the big screen.

However, if Marvel Studios has other plans, then we'd like M'Baku's story to continue on Disney+. He's a fascinating character and one with a lot of layers. That alone makes him someone we'd enjoy unpacking across the course of six episodes, while a deep dive into this corner of Wakanda would no doubt show off exciting and previously unexplored facets of the fictional nation.

6. Yondu

Michael Rooker has said on multiple occasions that he would be open to reprising the role of Yondu, and he's already done so in What If...? In terms of live-action appearances, we know that resurrection is off the table for the fallen Ravager, but that doesn't mean his past can't be explored in some way.

Marvel Studios would need to make sure that they can find a story worth telling. However, as James Gunn introduced all those original "Guardians" at the end of his 2017 sequel, common sense says that a show following their adventures would be a blast.

Once again, a spinoff like this opens the door to putting the spotlight on characters and locations there might not be room for elsewhere in the MCU. If Groot can get his own show, then we think it's about damn time Yondu is also given the chance to shine. If Gunn is involved creatively, it goes without saying that would be a major bonus.

5. Agent Carter

What If...?'s breakout character, Hayley Atwell's transformation into Agent Carter has been a hit among fans. Getting to see a live-action Variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a lot of fun (even if she didn't last particularly long against the Scarlet Witch), but we think the hero deserves better.

There have already been rumblings about a Disney+ series, and if accurate, you have to imagine we'll meet a third Captain Carter Variant. Earth-838's version is dead and we're pretty sure that the animated Peggy's story is going to continue playing out in that show. As a result, Marvel Studios needs to find a compelling reason to bring this Super Soldier back.

How can they tell her story without repeating what we've seen elsewhere? What makes this specific Variant's life worth exploring? Can something new and original be done with her? Those questions must all be answered, and if the responses are the correct ones, we could be in store for a great series.

4. Sif

It's been confirmed that Jaimie Alexander will return as Sif in Thor: Love and Thunder, and the most popular theory right now is that she could be King Valkyrie's love interest. We don't hate the idea, but would argue that she deserves more than just being brought back in that role.

Marvel Studios has never really taken full advantage of this character, and sidelining her in Thor: The Dark World and beyond was a real let-down for fans. We're also keeping everything crossed that Taiika Waititi doesn't plan on killing her off the same way he so casually wiped out The Warriors Three in Thor: Ragnarok.

Sif must have been doing something important all these years she's spent away from Asgard, so why not tell that story? It would probably be one big retcon, but there are lots of different directions this badass warrior could head down without being stuck in the God of Thunder's shadow.

3. Wong

Over the past few years, Wong has been given the chance to shine in the MCU. Introduced as a supporting character in 2016's Doctor Strange, he's since become Sorcerer Supreme and made some high-profile cameo appearances in movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Despite his newfound position, Wong was definitely sidelined to some degree in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and while his She-Hulk cameo should be fun, we'd like to see more from the character moving forward.

A Disney+ series could make for gripping viewing with the right premise, and while some high-profile cameos wouldn't hurt (Benedict Cumberbatch showing up for at least one episode would be a must), Marvel Studios could flesh out the magical side of the MCU in a big way here. Heck, why not throw America Chavez into the mix and make this a team-up series?

2. Ant-Man And The Wasp

The Ant-Man movies have taken us back to the past on a couple of occasions, meaning we've got to spend at least a little time with the original Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Marvel Studios' decision to sideline them in preference of Scott Lang and the newly created Hope Van Dyne hasn't been anywhere near as controversial as we once expected. In the comic books, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are founding Avengers, but in the MCU, they're used as supporting characters who are long past playing superheroes.

By taking us back to the Cold War, when these two were at their prime, a Disney+ prequel series could explore these characters in various exciting ways. Fleshing out the MCU's past and driving home their importance in this shared world would be a must, and we're sure Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are up for the challenge.

1. Erik Killmonger

Erik Killmonger's story ended in Black Panther, and while the rumour is that he'll show up in the afterlife in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we don't see Michael B. Jordan having much of a future in the MCU beyond that. There's no reason not to explore the villain's past, though.

What If...? offered a glimpse at what Killmonger was up to before heading back to Wakanda to try and reclaim his throne, so why not tell the original's story in a more in-depth way? His descent into villainy and a better exploration of his belief system would make for fascinating viewing and could better inform what we saw from Killmonger back in 2018.

On the one hand, we can't help but imagine how much fun a redemption story of Killmonger becoming Black Panther in his cousin's place would be. That seems unlikely, though, so we'd definitely be open to an exploration of this character in the MCU's past.

My first choice is Eros / Starfox in the mid-credits scene played by none other than Harry Styles from Eternals. Starfox starring Harry Styles would have to be a movie :)

First off, ignore the haters that hate these lists. It's all speculation and subjective. If you don't like the lists, don't read them.

Secondly, I don't think any of these characters need their own spin-offs. They are all just fine within their respective roles.

Slightly off topic, Doctor Strange crossed the $400m mark yesterday in the US. This is its final weekend of theatrical exclusivity as well. It's looking to finish just over the runs of Civil War and Iron Man 3.

Wong is currently the #1 MVP supporting character in the MCU. I wouldn't be objected to a series of shorts showcasing his various activities in the MCU outside of the movies.

Lady Sif deserves a memorable role in a Thor movie. I wouldn't mind getting a little round-up of what she's been up to since we last saw her in AoS, though.

America Chavez will get her time to shine. Her own show could be one way for that, but I think she'll rather appear as guest in other characters' stories.

I don't need a Captain Carter anything, but I'd love to get a conclusion to the Agent Carter show. Could be a final season, could be a Disney+ movie.

The others... meh.

Honestly, I think they shouldn't just give everyone spin-off shows. Stuff like Moon Knight works because we wouldn't see him otherwise, but this would be making shows for the sake of making shows.

Yeah, no. Lol. Disney + needs another new MCU show like it needs a hole in the head. Not every walk on character needs a 6-8 hour back story or spin off. The fact that almost none of these shows can maintain interest for longer than half a day after each episodes airs is proof that it’s not always the answer.

Any of these could be good if done well, but most wouldn't be necessary to me.

I 2nd the opinion of an in-universe Daily Bugle news show, or if Sony won't play ball bringing Scott Lang's podcast to life could achieve similar results.

The top 2 shows ideas in my mind would be an Eternals anthology (the biggest problem with the move imo is that it was a movie) showing how they influenced world events over time, or a heist show (think something like Leverage for inspiration) centered on Yondu and the Ravager crew set before Yondu worked with Ego.

Does anyone else feel like most of these are just “flavor of the month” characters? Like they’re only popular because they’ve had a few good scenes but nothing that stands out about them as deserving of a another series. Maybe Wong because unlike the others he is actually useful to the core story and has been consistently active in the mcu where the others are mostly comedy. Carter in particular has had many chances to shine but Idt general audiences care all that much about her.

I don't know what's up with people wanting M'Baku to be Black Panther. Logistically it wouldn't make sense, he and his tribe revere HANUMAN/Ghekre, not BAST. He wouldn't abandon Hanuman for Bast, nor would Bast accept him.

Yeah, he could end up taking over Wakanda but as MAN-APE or whatever name would sound better. And the whole Wakandan "motif" would be changed to the ape instead of the Panther. Let alone the fact that the heart shaped herb could easily kill him if he were to take it because he isn't a descendant of Bashenga.
