Rupert Sanders Reportedly Circling VAN HELSING Reboot

After directing Snow White And The Huntsman for Universal Pictures, Rupert Sanders is said to be in discussions with the studio to helm their Van Helsing reboot, which has Tom Cruise attached to star.

A few months ago, it was reported that Tom Cruise was attached to star in Universal Pictures' planned reboot of the Van Helsing film franchise, which will be developed by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers). Cruise is also set to produce the movie. The 2004 film, which starred Hugh Jackman as the vigilante monster hunter, grossed over $300M at the worldwide box office (despite very mediocre reviews), so it should come as no surprise that Universal are still interested in the property. Now, we have our first potential candidate to direct the reboot.

Twitch Film reports that director Rupert Sanders - who recently helmed the Kristen Stewart-starrer Snow White And The Huntsman for Universal - is said to be in "early and still relatively casual" discussions to direct Van Helsing, with both sides interested in the idea. The site also says that there's a good chance that the film will be Tom Cruise's next project (he's currently shooting Warner Bros.' All You Need Is Kill), so a director should be locked down fairly soon. Additionally, Sanders is rumored to be directing a Snow White And The Huntsman spin-off starring Chris Hemsworth.

i think sanders problem with snow white was the same as kosinski problem on tron legacy-a really slow, bad script.
luckily they both have cruise to show them the way on their 2nd films...
so yeah he could be a decent choice

It seems like Hollywood have ran out of ideas. All we get is remakes/reboots these days.

Van Helsing was one of the WORST movies I had ever seen , until I saw GI Joe .. and when I found out they were both directed by Stephen Sommers I wanted to ram my head against a wall. Horrible film, so bad my friends and I regift that movie to each other all the time. only rule is you have to trick them into touching it.

Van Helsing was ok. I just hated the steampunk shit in it.

And yeah i think they should focus on Castlevania rather than rebooting a film which is just about to become ten years old.

I would like to see Werewolf By Night, The Tomb of Dracula and Swamp Thing on the big screen someday too.

And they are already [frick]ing the reboot up by casting Tom Cruise in the leading role. Cant see him doing any better than Jackman.

All I will say about that craptastic movie is Kate Beckinsale's face silhouette appearing in a fraking cloud as her body is cremated and sheading a tear.

I want to see an an actual Van Helsing movie where Van Helsing is an older man who has to fight Dracual not the younger strong guy who fights all kinds of monsters.

Also why the hell is Tom Cruise atached to this? There are so many actors I would rather see.

Hugh jackmans vanhelsing was a fun ride. Loved how it incorporated various monsters and not just Dracula. Not interested in the reboot though.

Reboot isnt necessary, especially one with Tom Cruise. Jackmans Van Helsing was awesome. In my opinion, some movies dont need sequels or remakes or reboots. I wish studios would realise that.

I liked the first Van Helsing. Well, okay, the ending was a bit blah, but I still liked the rest of it in spite of the flaws. It had a killer soundtrack for sure. I'm ready for a sequel. Why not?

The first Van Helsing was an abomination. Summers is a hack, the script sucked and the Cgi was cartoonish. Complete failure, horrible rendition of iconic characters. I could take a pen and paper into the bathroom with me and write a better film.

After some thought I think this COULD be good. Van Helsing was good because it's wasn't suppose to be serious. It was a ride. I thought Hugh Jackman was awesome but if they are changing the tone then you kinda have to recast. As for Cruise, everybody thought he would fail in Interview with the Vampire but he nailed it. So in conclusion.... I will read the future updates about this movie as casually as I will download it for free when it comes out.
